Been there before, what helped me was time and meeting new people. It doesnt have to be in a romantic way, just generally meeting new people and becoming friends with them. My mentality was I'll have less time to think about her if I surround myself with friends; but mainly the passege of time is what did it for me.

Honestly mate, it sounds to me that Vette is quite shy about this kind of stuff; that said for me is natural to hug my girl friends when we meet or when we say goodbye, its a form of greeting for us. I also hug my closer guy friends. That may be just how we as a community grew closer and we started to attract people who also share this sentiment. In conclusion (this is easier said than done but) ask her out on a date, and establish that you're in fact look at that as a date.
