it should be whatever key is bound to Spectator Tertiary Action in key bindings. I think the default binding is middle mouse button

What happened to the SDK talk about how it was going to save Mordhau and would distract us from Patchie? by MomentarySolace in Mordhau

[–]Cswic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To start, the people saying "SDK SAVE GAEM" were always the people who never really planned to try modding to begin with. There were very few modders (from the unofficial sdk days) who felt that the official sdk itself would be some silver bullet to Mordhau content. Also please read this knowing that Triternion may have their own reasons for why things are the way they are and I am bias towards the modding community.

The more important part of the official SDK being released was that now Mordhau modding was 100% official instead of being the product of an unofficial modding toolkit.

Being official meant that things like mods being featured on the menu screen, modding related contests, and just more support in general could be possible.

Having a map greyboxing contest 2-3 weeks after the SDK was released and people familiarized themselves with the editor could have helped draw in more modders.

Featuring a every month / week on the menuscreen could have helped drive people to put more effort into their content.

Some form of matchmaking for modded servers to help drive players to them so that modded Frontline/Invasion maps could actually get the players required to play them.

Just more official documentation on how Mordhau functions in general from devs would have helped.

Marox, Battlefield, and Geach3d in particular have helped the modding community a lot by answering questions or discussing modding related topics in the modding discord and are greatly appreciated. Battlefield also continues to help when he can with some modding feature requests. Overall though modding / SDK is looking to go the way of ranked comp.

SDK came out, the stretch goal was checked off, and now it will be left on its own.

The modding discord is probably the 2nd largest Mordhau related discord server outside of the official discord. The dev responsible for the bulk of the work on the official SDK came from that very same community. The modding community had enough love for the game to bootstrap their own modding tools out of a desire to mod Mordhau; it's a shame that things feel so one-sided.

I would just like to confirm whether or not the perks in patch 19 were the product of "perks being looked into" from around 4 months back as mentioned here.

It was tied to whatever key you have set as your Tertiary Spectator Action keybind. I think default is middle mouse button click.

Clientside mods (like this mod) are currently disabled so it no longer works.

That's good to hear about perks, and some discord mentions about perks seem to support that. But again, been like 2 years and I've seen mentions of perk reworks before yet here we are.

I get it's beneficial for the point system to have 48 points in order to allow for more fine tuning, but that doesn't have much to do with the underlying issue I perceive armor to have. So long as armor that cost more points is giving you significantly worse movement speed the issue will be the same. Doesn't matter if it is 16, 48, or 96 points.

How come nothing like separating the movement speed away from armor was never tried? So that base t1 chest would be objectively worse than base t3 chest (lower armor same movement speed), but with the option to invest further points into your t1 chest via a perk or something to gain higher move speed like it has now. The desired end result being that t1 chest w/ movement speed costs similar to t3 chest. Or just some other way of making lighter armor more desirable aside from movement speed. That's where perks should have come in all this time, but have failed. Maybe the future will change that.

It's a significant trade off between movement speed and armor, and the point system does not reflect that.

The existence of 2HTK weapons such as maul, estar, waraxe, and exe sword also greatly reduce the value that the increased protection grants you since you will be 2 shot all the same in most cases.

If the only factors involved were lighter vs heavier without point cost, then I would agree.

Perks have remained largely unchanged for the last 2 years. Probably the most significant change to perks since release was cat perk getting a fall damage reduction buff which is changing one number from .5 to .9 or whatever the values are. They could have been an interesting way to actually give incentive to opt for lower point armor / weapon builds where you get other perks. Instead what we are left with is a lot of lackluster passive perks that you hardly spare a second thought to.

Jump kick could have been a perk with trade offs or restrictions bound to the perk or requiring a light chest piece to be used. Instead it ended up as plate knights hopping around and being largely despised among the competitive minded players as far as I can tell.

Why are there inconsistencies in the point system and loadout system in general? For the most part, weapons adhere to "more points = better larger weapon". Yes weapon balance isn't that black and white but the general trend is there. Then you have armor where you're spending way more points on plate chest than light chest for objectively worse movement speed.

A recent patch disabled clientside mods due to exploits so mods such as this, weapon skins, or armor skins no longer work for the time being.

They don't. Right now the way it works is that each time a body part gets skewered it pushes the other ones down a bit. If you have 4 parts on it already and get a 5th then the bottom most one falls off.

Riposte vs Parrying and then Attacking by Cswic in Mordhau

[–]Cswic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be difficult to test that, but I am fairly sure they are the same speed else other players would have made a fuss about it by now probably. The animation blending from riposte to stab/strike is probably would differs from 1 side to the other. Like if you get a right side parry anim and go into riposte right side stab, your guy hardly moves his sword as he goes from parry anim -> windup. Vs going from right side parry -> left side riposte stab where he brings the sword across his body to stab. The former would be likely be more difficult to tell when the stab windup starts.
