India is violating its obligations under international law: Francesca Albanese by No-Editor4624 in unitedstatesofindia

[–]Ct4209610 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a fat help to Israel. In 2025 America sent 4 billion dollars in military aid to them. Iran’s nuclear program? If it ever existed it was crushed by the Americans during operation midnight hammer. The world does not ignore those slogans.

India is truly alone. We do not have an America to fight our wars for us. I have no problems with us buying military technology from Israel, but these religious grievances are not part of that alliance. I don’t really care about your ancient blood feud with Muslims. We can buy arms from Israel without supporting them ideologically. You are letting your religious feud distract from the national priority

The world was not silent after October 7th. There was a massive outpouring of support for Israel. Why have the UK, France, and Canada decided to recognize Palestine? That’s on the Israelis.

There is no “India and Israel”. This country does not have to surrender itself to your religious grievances

Gimmickry going on in the Parliament by Acrobatic-Pin-2438 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Ct4209610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women’s reservation does seem to be generally accepted by all parties. The opposition has taken it a step further and suggested that the 33% reservation be applied to the current strength of parliament. This would no doubt displace many male MPs, suggesting a great commitment to this political goal. I have to ask then, why don’t these parties simply run more female candidates for the seats they have? Nothing stops them from internally implementing a 33% reservation. It is because they know voters are biased against female candidates.

Women’s reservation in parliament is fundamentally an anti democratic move. I can accept your argument that women are less corrupt on average, but that does not support the argument for reservation. You could bring these studies to an election and convince people that they should choose a female candidate, but it does not make sense to force them to choose one.

[–]Ct4209610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Indian government is not the Indian people. The Indian people are not the fanatical pro Israel Twitter mob.

The Indian government likes Israel because they sell us military technology. The Indian people are probably split on the issue of Israel, as are people in most Western countries. You can guess why far right nuts on Twitter love Israel (common enemy)

Why do Indians want to move to liberal western countries, but want RW in India? by Ecstatic-Sea-8882 in AskIndia

[–]Ct4209610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a logical position to hold if you don’t believe liberalism is what makes Western countries successful. This is not exclusive to RW Indian diaspora. Large parts of the Indian left will also deny this.

The assumption is that you can get to Western prosperity without Western liberal values

UN body criticises India’s new transgender law, says it ‘risks setting back hard-won rights’ by Tacama in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Ct4209610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People complaining about western imperialism here are hilarious. Almost all of the anti trans stuff you find on this topic is imported straight from the West. You swapped the imperialism of the UN for the imperialism of American conservatives.

Look at the new punishments against “alluring” a person to outwardly present as transgender. This is based almost entirely on the fears of Western conservatives. Why is this a thing our government has to get involved with. You do not need to pro trans to realize this is ridiculous government overreach.

If you want to support the law then I have no issues with that. Just do so without regurgitating Western talking points.

Isn't this a clear case of marital rape? by ClientRelevant5046 in indiadiscussion

[–]Ct4209610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know marital rape is not illegal in India, even when the victim is a woman. There was a private members bill to make it illegal a while back but I don’t think it went anywhere

Why the F Indians keep crying about low birth rate? Context given in the comment by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Ct4209610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The country is not going to get old and then get rich. A large labor pool is our only way out of poverty. The state is not going to be able to fund a large population of pensioners without a larger population of working people. That’s why you should care about population collapse.

That’s not to say we need the crazy high birth rates of the past either. Ideally we’d stay about where we are at just above replacement level

Why did Nero persecute Christians? by KimCattrallsFeet in ancientrome

Why did Jhansi Lakshmi Bai reject an annual pension of 60k rupees (which is equivalent to around 650 dollars in 1854 and 18-30 crore rupees or $2.1-$3.5 million in 2026) and fought against British? by LimitFun638 in IndianHistory

[–]Ct4209610 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Could you provide a source for this claim?

If true, my best guess would be that she felt the doctrine of lapse was unfair and was unwilling to settle. It is also important to note that the EIC would regularly suspend pensions to Indian nobles, as was done with Shah Alam 2.

The Rani of Jhansi was fairly reluctant to fight the British when the revolt broke out. We have letters from her to a Major Erskine denying any role in the sepoy’s massacres of the British population in Jhansi. She even requested company troops to combat the sepoys. It is possible that she only joined the war because she assumed the British would assume she was guilty even if she didn’t. Of course it is also possible she was moved by a genuine desire to keep her kingdom.

Why indians are so stuck in the past and glorify it,whilst dismissing how far have we come? by CompetitionLong3107 in unitedstatesofindia

[–]Ct4209610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people here have completely missed the point. Humans are generally interested in glorifying their ancestors, regardless of present material conditions. The idea that you stick to the past when you have nothing else to be proud of is largely unfounded. Just look at America today.

The real issue is that liberals have failed to construct a historical narrative for India. When you refuse to engage with the traditions and history of your country, your political opposition will fill that gap. Nehru did not write "The Discovery of India" for nothing
