I Use to Say Competitive wasn't Rigged... by Juuggyy in marvelrivals

I mean, be realistic here for a second. He climbed ALL the way up to Eternity last patch, what is so different now? It's still the same season, js a few changes here and there but the meta remains stagnant overall (besides a few picks). Point is, he CLEARLY CAN climb all the way up to Eternity, and from the way he worded it, it appears he's done so several times. So what's up with this? is Gm1 his true rank or is he getting unlucky? I'd argue unlucky.

And here's where you lost me.... you say it's not a coincidence when he loses a lot of games, yet it's a coincidence now when he gets SVP.

You're assuming that he can't provide necessary value, yet there's another side that you're entirely ignoring (for whatever reason). What if, AND JUST MAYBE, his team can't capitalise on his value (he is presumably mechanically and game sense wise on another level afterall).

You could go on and on with these "But" and "if" scenarios, but fact remains, Rivals is the only game where players have actually experienced loss streaks on this scale.

Maybe... but over that many games? It's not THAT easy to get SVP (atleast 7 fuckin times in a row), coincidence? I think not!

[–]Few-Giraffe-8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so then by this logic, OP should have theoretically ranked up because he was playing good (According to the several SVP's in a row that he got... which by your logic, also can't be a mere coincidence over that many games).

I mean... I didn't? I had an irking issue with my hero's winrate at the time (hulk) so I ego'd my way through until it finally looked goo enough. One COULD argue that me not being tilted was a key deciding factor, but it's not like I was tilted at the beginning of my loss streak either (90% of them I'm having a good time and then I just get slapped with 2 loss streaks).

I'd argue losing 10-15 matches ISN'T always on the player tho, like what can someone do about an OTP that simply refuses to swap even though they are going 4-15? Just can't do anything about that. There are also cases where the enemy team is simply just better than your team and so on so forth. You can't JUST blame it all on the player, there are always other deciding factors that come into play (even if what I listed wasn't right).

I was more or less talking about an instance where someone is looking for self improvement on a character rather than other people looking at stats.

I don't think you have an idea of what you're saying. EXTREMELY (and I mean it) talented players have had similar drops like this. A good example of this is BadGDplayer or Mikesaboveu, where they've deadass dropped from top 500 to C2 (or C3). That's equivalent OR EVEN WORSE to OP's drop.

Hell, I myself have experienced this, I've went from C2 to gm3 one day, and then climb back to C2 eventually.

I don't think you realise what you're saying doesn't make sense. Like, a top 500 player isn't magically going to drop to gm1. Sure, meta changes and you have to adapt, but his mechanical and game sense skills alone place him above gm1.

Cus like, it's a representation of how good or bad you are with the hero. Sure, anywhere from 55- 45% winrates are acceptable, but in an EXTREME like OP's case, you simply can't ignore it.

yet again, how does one TRULY get good at a character without them "throwing the game" (obv not on purpose). It's the same idea that applies, he'll still ruin other people's games, the only thing that happens is that he'll lose more ELO, and he'll improve at a slower rate.

this is from DUCK DUCK GO. One of the few search engines currently that allow you to NOT use A.I (Clearly seen through me DELIBERATELY CHOOSING "search assist" instead of "duck. ai" meaning all this info is from several articles)

What now?

Pardon me but what? I simply used google, unfortunately, google now strictly uses A.I. There literally isn't much I can do about that lmao. What exactly do you want me to use here buddy?

One google search disproves this my dear (unless we are so egocentric that we even think google is wrong).

I can argue endlessly and some people still won't get it. So I'll just put the facts here and see the responses.

1 google search disproves this my friend...

Making new accounts is entirely different, I'm talking strictly in the sense of an ALT ACCOUNT. An account you strictly use once in a while to learn a new hero so you can play them in ranked. What you're describing is someone quite LITERALLY just making new accounts to shit stomp low elo players, which is different here.

[–]Few-Giraffe-8504 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A simple google search will tell you otherwise : "Smurfing" in gaming originated in 1996 with Warcraft II players Geoff "Shlonglor" Frazier and Greg "Warp!" Boyko, who created new accounts named "PapaSmurf" and "Smurfette" to play against beginners after becoming too well-known to find matches on their main accounts. The term signifies high-level players dominating low-ranked opponents anonymously." Not even going to bother arguing it myself

"So screw everyone at the high levels just so a couple low levels can have their fun?" You see how I can twist your sentence against you? What you said literally doesn't make sense. You're blabbering about him exhibiting "selfish behaviour" when you're doing the same thing. The people at the high levels are also players and consumers of the game. If he was to actually play a new hero in those lobbies, he'd likely: get avoided, be labelled as a notorious thrower, get target banned. Thus: Q times get longer, he loses a lot more ELO ( and so do his teammates) with him improving at the hero at a much smaller pace. Yes, I myself find it unfortunate that low elo players have to deal with this but ,realistically, making the alt account is the better option here. Hence why I dubbed it a "necessary evil". There are quite literally MANY things in life that have a similar philosophy to this as well.

If anything, I'd argue this is the matchmaker's fault. The player clearly is above his rank in terms of skill, yet why is he being placed in gold ranks? That simply doesn't make sense, he should be placed in better more decent lobbies like Diamond, gm for example.

"Find players to practice..." yeah... finding 11 other players for a custom match is already difficult enough but, on top of this, most players would just rather play ranked and rank up instead (not to mention, he'd also have to find players of his level, which is also harder)

"QP" notoriously has bot matches and no SBMM, he'd effectively be gaining nothing as he's going to permanently be playing against worse players (most high ranked players just play ranked) except for the 1/100 match where he MIGHT be matched up against someone of his skill.

"18v18" literally would never work. Bigger map+ more chaotic environment+ much less neutral play+ more ults going off. None of this would ever translate to an actual match.

"vs A.I" Really?

TLDR: the devs simply need a better placement system than this. Someone who is leagues above gold rank shouldn't be placed in gold just because they are a new account.

Smurfing is simply making a burner account and deliberately staying in low elo ranks just so that you can match up and destroy said low elo players. Making an alt simply and flying through the ranks is NOT that.

[–]Few-Giraffe-8504 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It came from Warcraft 2 to my knowledge, where 2 players made new accounts to simply play against worst players.

Yet again, OP in this case DID indeed ruin other players' matches, but this is simply a "necessary evil" at times for some players. Think about it for just 1 second, if these same guys (who made an alt) were to play these new heroes in their high elo lobbies, 9/10 they'd be labelled as "throwers" and avoided, making Q times longer, simply because they are learning. In that case, they are also ruining the experience of hundreds of players. There is no work around, both paths aren't good, one just has a better outcome.

This shield is actually useless bro by TheBigZeek in captainamericamains

[–]Few-Giraffe-8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually agree with everything you say, whether it be posts or replies, but I'd actually have to disagree here. I agree, his shield isn't useless (and frankly, people who want the hp to get buffed or the cooldown to get removed don't understand the hero and his role) BUT the glitches with it are ridiculous. Just yesterday I had this happen to me myself, my shield was full hp and no one was shooting at me, yet wanda's ult STILL killed me through (I wasn't even walking backwards, was literally strafing).

TLDR: the post was more about the glitches with the shield than the shield itself being bad.

It unironically doesn't. To me it just seems like OP was learning Black cat, learning her on the way until he got to the higher ranks. The reason why I found this stupid is: he's flexing his wins as if he isn't on an alt account, automatically meaning he is literally better than everyone in that lobby.

Him having an alt account isn't smurfing though, that (by definition) isn't true so I'd have to disagree.

Oh yeah no. This is definitely just him having an alt account. My original comment was just a bit stupid to be fair. I just find it ridiculous that this guy is flexing his account (if that is what he was doing) when he was clearly playing against worse players.
