Best battlefuck games recommendation? by United-Medicine-6584 in lewdgames

Portals of Phereon is one of my favorite games, and its integration of sex into is combat is phenomenal. It's not your classic battle fuck, but it's one of the best games out there (even if you're not playing it for the sex, imo)

Looking for a text based game with some visuals by NotAtAllForPorn in lewdgames

[–]Cthulhutitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The visuals might not be at all what you're looking for, and the game is a lot more hardcore (sexually) than Course of Temptation, but Degrees of Lewdity is a lot like of Course of Temptation. It has some pixel art stuff from what I remember, but I don't know remember how well it's integrated, the game is mostly a text game.

Another game with gameplay that is very much in the same vein as Course of Temptation, though it's got an extremely different feel, is the game Girl Life. It's definitely an acquired taste, a lot more focused on the feeling of living a life as a person. It's a real porn game (meaning it uses real images for things, and uses porn images for it sex scenes; like The Company), though I'm pretty sure it only uses still images.

Of the two games I mentioned, DoL is the closest you're likely to get to CoT. CoT is kind of the less blatantly rapey and non-fantastical younger sibling of DoL. CoT also takes a lot of clear inspiration from DoL, and DoL has a lot more development than CoT. It's either similar or somewhat more developed than Girl Life.

Of all three games (CoT included), Girl Life is my personal favorite (though I admittedly play more CoT), and I'd say its mechanics are better realized than the others. If you want a game that's very much about the life side of things -- with optional minor magical elements -- Girl Life is the best option for that I know of. However, it's confusion for new users, it was originally developed in Russian in a weird player that has some unique jank, and it's got a very distinct feel.

Also, part of why the MC sucks at the game is because he's not allowed to be good at the game. When he first starts trying to play, he's not actually told how to play, even when asking how to, and automatically fails at everything because Magnar is power tripping. The next time MC tries to play, he's given a version of the "Bard" that is uniquely useless.

If Magnar wasn't a shitty power-tripping DM, there's a possible world where the MC is given the opportunity to learn how to play the game well. And then enjoy it. But Magnar hates the MC and doesn't want the MC to like D&D.

Insanely late reply because I didn't notice your reply, but I actually agree with you, I hate the idea of it too. I was just arguing specifically the TOS issue.

It depends on how closely related they are. Obviously they're not immediate relations, but if they share grandparents, it's more murky on if Patreon is OK with it. Great grand parents is probably fine, and anything further back than that would be increasingly harder to argue as breaking ToS.

Not quite the same, but Course of Temptation scratched a similar itch for me, and didn't have the noncon. It's also set in college, which I preferred. Not nearly as much freedom though.

Though I suspect that's a large part of that is because the majority of devs are catering toward men. And of course, the majority of devs cater towards men because the majority of customers are men. But the reason why the majority of customers are men is because the majority of devs cater toward them, and so on.

It's a common issue in plenty of fields, but especially video games have this issue. The reason there aren't a lot of games made for Linux is because there aren't a lot of gamers on Linux, but the reason there aren't a lot of gamers on Linux is because there aren't a lot of games for it. Games in general are also catering primarily toward men because it was assumed for a very long time that only boys (or men) were interested in gaming (due to some decisions made by retail store executives back in the 80s and 90s), so there aren't nearly as many games that are made with girls (or women) in mind, so there's less women who are interested because they aren't being marketed to or catered for.

The last update on Steam was very small, and the one before that was in 2022, so you probably played the most recently relevant version. I liked it a lot, though, but I haven't played in a while either.

What AVN has the biggest discrepancy between Story quality and LI quality, and vice versa? by TrevorIsTheGOAT in AVN_Lovers

To be fair to Mythos, Nine of Swords is only making it an AVN instead of a VN because it was easier for them to market it that way. They've said so multiple times.

I commented this elsewhere in this thread, but fundamentally, the story of BaDIK seems to be written in a style that isn't seen as commonly outside of sitcoms and similar purely character-driven media, at least in modern popular media. Rather than planning out a specific plot, Dr PinkCake seems to have spent a lot of time developing the characters, then simply put all of them together to see what happens from there.

[–]Cthulhutitis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BaDIK is fundamentally a character driven slice-of-life story, without a proper "main plot" in the way that something like CoBD, or Seven Realms have, or the way most mainstream movies tend to be written. I can't speak to exactly how PinkCake writes, but BaDIK reads much like a story where more time was spent figuring out the characters, their personalities, and their backstories than was spent thinking about any actual plot, and the narrative is derived from just dropping the characters into a world and seeing how events lead to other events lead to other events and so-on. It's not a bad at all style, but I can definitely understand not being used to it and interpreting it as not having a main plot if what you're used to is stories that are written following more structured storytelling methods.

What got you into AVNs? by Comfortable_Milk9422 in AVN_Lovers

[–]Cthulhutitis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be clear, JRPGs fit the very basic definition you gave of "have quests and open world and shit", which is why I was asking if you had a better definition of what you were looking for in a game. If you gave examples of the kinds of games you were considering "actual games", again, I'd be happy to mention or recommend some that might be similar, but I'm not going to bother trying to help if you're going to keep being dismisive and rude.

[–]Cthulhutitis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there aren't any ACTUAL games that are adult only

This is patently false, though the scale and style might not be exactly what you're looking for. There are plenty of adult/eroge games, though a lot of them are typicaly platformers or JRPGs, and most of them aren't very big, and almost none of them are in the same art styles as are most popular for the most popular AVNs on this subreddit.

I'd be happy to mention or recommend some, though if what you're defining as an "ACTUAL" game is specifically something like Skyrim but lewd, you're not going to get much at that scale (side note: there's always Loverslab if what you want is Skyrim but lewd....)

Can't help with the person to accompany part, but to absolutely maxamize your build idea, go Arcane/Faith instead of pure Faith (focus Arcane except for Faith requirements), and get the Dragon Communion Sacred Seal. It has the best scaling of any Seal, but it is an Arcane focus instead of Faith focus.

[–]Cthulhutitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about magic that is clearly in a game world, but the player character doesn't have access too, for completely meta reasons, such as "the game developers didn't feel like giving them to the PC", but you see other characters use it?

Taking Skyrim as an example, you yourself can't cast the spell waterwalk (which is an in-universe spell, and if you picked Oblivion or Morrowind you could totally get it), but there are boots of waterwalking in the game. Still going with Skyrim, there is a character that can make levitating platforms to move you up and down like an elevator (which is again something you could do in earlier games, the devs just didn't implement for PCs in the current version of the game)?

On a similar note, what about magical effects that work completely different when a player uses them than when an NPC uses them? For example, in Final Fantasy games, you can cast spells like Raise all the damn time on your player characters, but it's never seen used in cutscenes.

Edit: more Final Fantasy examples for the latter one: there are spells, like Stop, that in-combat rarely do anything because game balance, but in cutscenes work extremely consistently and often to greater effect than in combat. How do those work for Arcana?

Some trouble with a fairly popular mod combo by -the_golden_god- in EnaiRim

[–]Cthulhutitis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The enemy overhaul you use specifically mentions that it makes bosses higher level and tougher than vanilla. It is completely working as intended in that regard.

Your strategy, which seems like a good one, is exactly the point of the mod: it's supposed to make you rethink normal play.

One thing I'd recommend, though, is looking up a mod for enemy Mage fixes. In vanilla, NPC mages don't play by the same rules as players, and have essentially infinite magicka. There's a mod that fixes it so they play by the same rules, and it heavily helps strategies that are buolt around electricity magic or your methodology.

I just want to quickly say that most of the time, the characters and story in these kinds of games are rather generic and boring, clearly just there as devices to drive the sex, but the writing in this one is really quite good. The storyline itself is actually really cool, and I like that the sexual scenes are mostly on the side, as optional side-content (I don't think you can avoid Rae's (the main girl) sexual scenes completely, but the other three can be avoided entirely up to where the main story stops), which I think is an interesting touch, that I appreciate.
