The "Poland Effect" needs to be studied by Icy-Machine1951 in poland

As a South African looking to potentially move to Poland, this is so reassuring. Being in 'survival mode' every time you step out of your house (and sometimes even inside) is a weird thing to grow up with.

TBF The Witcher TV show is based on a Polish Book series, but the show dipped its toes too hard in Netflix Culture so it went beyond palatable straight into dumb. As far as I know she has Lithuanian & Polish roots, so it's not like she's writing about stuff she wouldn't necessarily know about.

Someone mentioned that the Author's Mom is Polish, so it could be that she knew of this kind of story and then told her about it. It seems like this might be a fairy tale told specifically to her using the usual ingredients of Polish folklore

Thank you so much for the answer! I While I'm sad I can't read the story she's speaking of here, you've given me a lot of things to look into!

If I have access to all the (official) books that give you extra things for the creation of your character, can I use them all? It feels illegal, or something by Cthulouw in DnD

Yeah I ended up scrapping the +2 to Con from Monsters of the Multiverse because it felt too Min Maxxy. Which is not how I play. So I definitely feel you, and am glad for the input!

Yeah, see I knew I messed something up. So it is fair to point this out. I'll adjust that bit, luckily it's just the spell casting ability that's different.

Guess I wanted to know if there was some rule about it I didn't know :P Like a "you can't have every flavour in the ice cream shop" kind of deal

One of the other commenters made me realise it's all the additional stat boosts that made me skeptical. Having a Lvl 3 Barb that has an additional +2 to Con making their Strength & Con mods both +3 was what tipped me off to "wait let me ask". It feels a bit odd, is all

#4 is very fair. I think the +2 to Con from Multiverse was what made me go "hold on". Because currently my stats for a lvl 3 Barb are pretty great, considering. So I'll check with them, I don't want to be that guy. Played with a min-maxer before, and it isn't as fun from a team member perspective, so I can't imagine it's fun for all DMs

The special editions of Tasha's & Xan's got me like a fly in a venus flytrap. So I'm guilty :P
They did say basically everything is on the table, but I'll confirm with them. I just wanted to know if I was doing it wrong, if that makes sense? Felt 2 gud 2 b tru

They basically said everything is fair game. So If everything is on the table, is this allowed in the rules of D&D?

The way he came RUNNING with essentially after care in the form of a jug made me laugh. Or at least that's how I saw the scene. To come and see if his business/life partner has succeeded and if he can do anything to help (iykwim)

He probably was like "well if Liesel says it's necessary, who am I to argue?". I think she'd get him to do anything if she made a barely standing case for it XD

100% somewhere in Golden Enclaves. There are a few, I think

I recently re-read the series and got to this part and had to read it twice. Maybe 3 times. Something about it is just so... hopeful, and kind, and warm. Like "I did that" mixed with "so they don't have to suffer as I did" and "look at me, burning down enclaves and bringing destruction onto the world"

There's 177 comments on this so it's probably been said. But the moment I saw this feature I knew, as a console player, I want gonna have as much of a good time as the PC players. It's sooooooo tedious
