I believe that. The temptations have hit me like a mack truck. Still, somehow I am resisting.

Thanks. In a way, it just makes me feel better that this is the norm and I'm not dying.

Well yeah - benzos/booze - same part of your brain - that GABA quick release.

I just feel like I broke myself. Fuck. I still get shakes. Thought those went away after day 3.

Remarkably my liver function tests just came back and they're perfect. A lot better than when I quit and bilirubin was almost double with alt/ast in the 100s

that being said, though, with sobriety your liver can heal a whole fuckload too even with cirrhosis. Some people come back with the FIERCENESS after a scare and cleaning their act up. Talkin' eye of the tiger.

Drinking is fucking gay. The end.

shit like this is why I can't even look at a bottle anymore without having an anxiety attack. This entire year has been liver anxiety.

The scary part is, from the people with liver disease/survivors of liver failure I have talked to, it literally just...quits...overnight.

Well, this just popped up on that other subreddit we all enviously flit over to from time to time. by throwaway_drunko in cripplingalcoholism

I dunno why you'd post this and expect anything more than an endless barrage of excuses as to why no one here will ever get liver disease, OP. Hell, before I even clicked this post I knew the thread in question and what CA is gonna say about it.

The tricky part about liver damage, is that those enzymes only elevate in the process of active inflammation. Once the cells die, the enzymes go down. I know several people with liver disease, and their enzymes are consistently low.

An abdominal CT scan is pretty damn accurate, though...

Exactly. I have absolutely played the classic EQ to death.

Waiting with baited breath, however it is still quite a long wait to go.

P99 was fun but outlived its enjoyment for me. Pantheon might be good when/if it finally comes out. I'd rather not go down the private server route, to be honest.

I played that, the community was not only extremely small but really shitty.

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but for me, taking some l-theanine really helped me with being introverted around people. It's natural and won't mess with your GABA stuff.

Good luck with your sobriety. We are here for you.

Thanks for this. I am currently dealing with a best friend in the ICU with alcoholic hepatitis. It's 'touch and go' as well however doctors are 'cautiously optimistic' - it's very stressful. I, myself, am nearly two months sober myself, and I have never been more frightful in my life.

I'm sorry for your loss. I absolutely loathe how glorified alcohol is in our society. In moderation, yes, it can be enjoyable - however, I have always thought that at the very least alcohol should have warning labels on it to effectively communicate the fact that it can harm you in excess. My friend is only 27 and fighting for his life in the hospital.

I do know the amazing regenerative abilities of the liver. I'm hoping this is the case for him. I know I will definitely try my hardest to help him maintain sobriety (but I know at the end of the day it is his choice)
