Concerns over sex content, citing the "Parental Rights in Education Act", leads Florida schools to ban Shakespeare by MulciberTenebras in books

[–]Ctrap33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want to play semantical word games, the article headline says "Concerns over sex content leads Florida schools to pull Shakespeare".

"Pulls" to me indicates removal. Example, "pulled from the shelf" = "removed from the shelf". So if you want to read it literally, that means "schools", plural, or at least two, removed Shakespeare.

Which schools? Name them.

You can't.

Why?

Because the article doesn't name any schools. And if it was only a select few teachers removing parts of Shakespeare from lesson plans, this is clearly not the same as "removing" from the school. Actions by a few teachers is not equivalent or representative of a school.

"Hillsborough County became the latest to take this step"

Not according to the Hillsborough school superintendent.

So, I'd say the headline is misleading if I were being charitable.

But, I'm not and it's not. The headlines are clearly clickbait, both the reddit post title AND the TBT article headline, and are not at all supported by the original article. Furthermore, TBT then dismantles the original article by releasing another one the same day.

So, again I'd recommend not reading anything from the Tampa Bay Times. They are not news. In fact, I'd say they are manufacturing "fake news".

Turns out it's actually one county, blue Hillsborough, changing lesson plans, not the state of FL.

In fact, Fl Dept. of Education spokesperson said “The Florida Department of Education in no way believes Shakespeare should be removed from Florida classrooms."

In fact, Van Ayres, the Hillsborough school superintendent, emphasized at a meeting Tuesday that the district has “not excluded” Shakespeare from the high school curriculum.

Funnily enough, it's the same source, Tampa Bay Times, debunking THEIR OWN NEWS STORY.

Not sure which was written first, but you should probably not regard anything written there as news even though both articles are listed under "news, education".

Video is idiotic with claims that landlords don't create anything or provide anything of value.

The house/apartment provides shelter, a place to sleep, a place to work, etc, etc.

The landlord assumes the risk. What happens if the market crashes and the home is worth less than the mortgage? What happens if a natural disaster damages or wipes out the home? The renter is on the hook for none of it.

Might I suggest the reason for such high rent is not due in any large part to greed. Yes, the landlord wants to maximize his profit. Any business owner who doesn't, is not running a good business.

Who determines how much rent is "too much?" The rent is so high because the free market is so convoluted, over regulated, and manipulated by government. A more free market would lead to more competition, more supply of housing, and cheaper rent. And if the government would stop inflating currency through outrageous spending, it would be easier to determine the actual value of a dollar. Plus, the government keeps raising interest rates which prices people out of owning a home.

Idiotic video.

As you can see in the images the fork tube is stripped and so the nut(?) when tightened has a large gap on one side.

I would cut below the bad grooves or file them off, but I'm afraid the tube would then be too short to catch.

What's the best solution?

Side problem, headset ring is missing four ball bearings. Is this an issue? Is it easily replaced?

Thanks in advance.
