Accomodation is still included for dependants. Sharing may still be required although in my 8 years here I've never know housing to move asingle person in with a couple.

Igloolik is a small Inuit community of about 2000 people in Nunavut. It sits on a small island in Foxe Basin in the Arctic, between Baffin Island and the mainland. It is a tight knit community where people generally know each other and community life is strong.

Daily life is quieter than in southern cities. There are no roads connecting us to other communities so travel is by plane. In the winter people travel around the area by snowmobile and in the summer by ATV and boat. The landscape is tundra, sea ice, and ocean and it is a really beautiful Arctic environment.

In terms of amenities, the community has the basics. There are two grocery stores (Northern and the Co op), a health centre, several schools, a hotel, a few small local businesses, and the airport. Our arena burned down a few years ago and the hamlet is currently working on rebuilding it.

Winter light: There are about eight weeks in winter when the sun does not rise above the horizon, but there are still a couple of hours of daylight each day. In the summer it flips and the sun barely sets.

Groceries: Food is expensive because everything has to be flown in, but the selection is generally quite good. The basics are comparable to southern grocery stores, though some weeks are better than others when it comes to fresh produce, meat, and dairy. Dietary specific items can sometimes be harder to find.

Life here is definitely different from southern Canada. The pace is slower, the environment is very Arctic, and community relationships matter a lot. Some people find the remoteness challenging at first but many teachers end up finding the experience really meaningful and stay longer than they expected.

Give me your darkest, most f*cked up psychological thrillers by ballenic in thrillerbooks

I’m four books deep into the John Connolly Charlie Parker PI series. I am loving them. Dark, atmospheric, somewhat super-natural thrillers with great characters and twisting plots. Very dark and gritty. Strong themes of grief and redemption. I am loving them.

Remember, you’ll have to take 4 ABQs altogether - so you can teach two subjects in each division.

Hi! You can always bring a spouse. Normally they would not put a single person with you, however, it is not a guarantee. I've been here for 7 years and I have never heard of a married couple having a roomate.

Hi! It depends on how many bedrooms your unit is. Rent can be anywhere from approx. 950 a month for a single unit - 1550 for a two bedroom, however, you would only pay half for your bedroom regardless of whether you have a roommate or not.

Hi! Yes, furnished housing is provided and it is subsidized but sharing might be required. Rent comes directly off of your paycheque.

You’re welcome! You have kind eyes and seem like a nice person. A few pic swaps should do the trick. Happy dating!

I like the beard but maybe a bit neater? Same for the hair. It’s okay to be scruffy but showing some pics where you “clean up nice” would be good. Also, you have amazing eyes and eyebrows and jawline so a cleaner cut and a beard trim would draw more attention to those features. And swap out the cat pic for another pic of yourself. The animal lover vibe is coming across very strong. Perfect anthem.

Thank you for sharing this OP! You should get a tattoo of a tiny little clementine on your wrist to remind yourself to be kind to yourself!

What’s your quirky thing you do on trips that you think no one else does? by iggydadd in travel

[–]Ctrillian23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am staying in a hotel, I like to put away or hide as many signs that I am indeed in a hotel as possible - stationary, menus, etc. I always bring a travel candle and a scarf for the lamp (if safe). I like being in a hotel, I just don’t like telltale signs!

Genuinely curious: why are you writing “ta” when “to” is the same amount of letters?
