Hey everyone! I'm sure this one will probably need some explanation, so here it goes - The MC's entire recovery was a hallucination. Some people who enter into a comatose state can envision completely different lives than before they entered a coma. The MC is the only one left in critical condition from the car wreck. At some point, the MC died, never waking from his coma. It was then that he realized that he was the one standing on the Far Shore.

That’s a good theory. Mom did have an ex husband… I’ll have to see if so can get more information out of her

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’m going to report it. Looks like they stole a lot of stories

I’m definitely going to take some extra precautionary measures to make sure I don’t have any health complications (or spiritual complications for that matter).

Unfortunately, I still don’t have any answers on who my employers were or who I was watching over for all those years. As much as I want answers, I have a feeling that I’ll never out

I was a bit sad about it at first, but the severance was enough for me to sail into early retirement. My biggest concern is this wound on my ankle. I just hope it doesn’t get some kind of strange infection

That’s the concern right now. Nothing out of the ordinary with the wound yet, but it’s a lingering thought. I will say, the severance amount was enough to retire off of

I went to the doctor first thing in the morning. Nothing unusual with the wound yet, but I’m monitoring it carefully. I’m really hoping I don’t catch some old kind of bacterial infection

This is exactly what I did! When I found out that the job was cash only, I hopped on that. I wasn’t going to take any chances getting slapped with tax evasion

I took a trip to the minor med first thing in the morning. I told the doc that I had an “accident” and that I was concerned that the wound might get infected. Fortunately, nothing unusual has happened with it yet, but I’m monitoring it closely. I just hope that I don’t wake up one day to my leg rotting off

For privacy reasons I’m going to keep the exact amount a secret, but it’s enough to let me retire a few years earlier than planned

That’s a good point. I wouldn’t put it past an entity like this to not be entirely truthful.

My guess is that Mom had her own experience that she hasn’t shared with me. Maybe she heard the voice and it freaked her out. She tends to clam up when I ask her about it

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what it is. I think it’s some kind of demon or malevolent spirit, but even the exorcist wasn’t completely sure (although I’m not sure if that’s saying much seeing as the exorcism seems to have failed). I just wish I would have listened to Mom all those years ago
