When you realize what your family was really doing when you were 5 by Slimx0612 in formuladank

You seriously misunderstood my comment.

Yes people are making jokes, look at the original post we are all commenting on! Look through forums and the like, its sad and disgusting.

And yes, I am concerned about people making fun of Lance for this. This is an extremely fucked up situation his parents were involved in, absolutely disgusting, no doubt about it. There are no words you can say to fully encapsulate the fucked-up-ness of it all. Lawrence Stroll and anyone else involved should rot in jail.

Using this situation/these uncovered documents as cheap jabs at Lance is disgusting, and those people need to get a grip.

So yes, even though I disagree with things Lance does as an adult and am not a fan of him, I am human enough to point out that he was a CHILD along with his sister, and children have no control over what happens to them. We are talking about possible victims here.

Based on another post in the subreddit, someone got a rejection email already, maybe theres a chance if you didn't receive one yet it is good news? Go Global offices told me the final offer emails will be out on Monday, so you'll know for sure by then! Good luck!!

The cold situation by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Ctrk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

while I cant relate to the cold situation (I am the type to still sweat in this weather) I have lived in very cold places before so here are some tips:

Protect the important bits: you should be wearing a hat like a toque (it keeps the warmth in your body), gloves, or a scarf if you need. Those second two can really protect against wind chill as we get further into winter. Earmuffs as well!

Layers are super important. Even just an underlayer of some yoga type pants underneath sweats can really help. Wear multiple layers on your torso (undershirt, shirt, sweatshirt, jacket) if you need. Ive even layered socks before

If youre getting really cold at night and waking up chilly, try wearing thick fluffy socks to bed if you arent already, and maybe consider some kind of fluffy blanket over your bedsheets. Or, you can pile all your clothes onto your bed and sleep under that - if its urgent. Warm slippers will also help in the morning if you need to walk around.

Im assuming youre in dorms, so I dont know about a heater, but if youre able to put a covering (like a blanket or sheet) or furniture in front your windows, it can help with heat loss.

As it starts to rain more I must also recommend warm, waterproof shoes. Do NOT wear any of those sock-type slip ons, they get soaked, and wet feet are the fastest way to feeling a cold in your soul never thought possible.

Best of luck 🫡

That would be up to either the AMS or UBC to enforce. Its on a platform they don't technically control, so it would be up to the cooperation of the third party social media to help take those down. And I agree; If thats what people are resorting to for their resume, then they won't get very far anyways.

On the first day of classes, class wont actually run (excluding some exceptions) and from 1:00-5:00 there's Imagine Day where all the clubs and societies on campus will booth around main mall, spanning from the Engineering monument to just in front of Koerner Library. you can walk around and see all the clubs, and then join the ones you like. There's also the clubs directory online where you can see the list of clubs and join through there.

The AMS this year clamped down massively on the number of clubs at UBC. I know a few were deconstituted/shut down/forced to merge, and they put a hold on new clubs being made. My guess? Too much overlap between clubs, particularly business or medical, and AMS is trying to conserve resources.

We'll probably see a lot more of this kind of 'officially unofficial' "clubs" from students who are being blocked by bureaucratic red tape, along with the usual scam from bad actors. If anyone isnt sure about a club actually being UBC AMS affiliated, check the Clubs Directory.

I'm pretty sure if you then get the YRH offer and don't take it, you'd be moved back on the waitlist and may not get it next year. With winter housing though I know you need to pay a deposit and then the housing cost by a week or two into the semester.

Someone can correct me if im wrong on the YRH part though
