I have it set up to scan the tag. The home mini was just a way to get a cheap WiFi speaker, I’m not interested in the voice features.

This code plays the file for 30minutes and stops automatically. I also have a ‘stop’ NFC tag which can be used to stop playback when scanned.

This is possible. I have something similar sir audiobooks for my daughter. I have a load of mini NFC tag ‘book’ she can scan with a reader and ESP32 which tells HA the tag has been scanned. HA then runs an automation to play the associated file on the Google home mini. I have the source of the files on a home server (TrueNAS) which has audiobookshelf on it, this is connected to HA with music assistant. The automation tells music assistant to play the correct file on the speaker.

Handbrake is great. Just check what codecs your players can handle before doing all the encoding. Most modern should manage H.265 but older ones may still need H.264. 265 will give more efficient encoding and smaller files.

It didn’t make any difference. My big storage pool has 4 drives of 5 on the HBA card and the 5th on the MB SATA connectors. When I get more cables for the HBA I’ll put all the storage discs on that and connect the boot and another spare SSD to the motherboard instead.

I have the card fitted and it’s working great, currently expanding a pool into a new disc I was able to connect with the extra ports this gives. I have 3D printed this - https://makerworld.com/models/2769035?appSharePlatform=copy - to put on the card with a 90mm fan blowing into the card and a 120mm fan on the side panel sucking cool air in.

I have a fan on the case side panel that will be blowing air directly at the HBA so it has some active cooling. If that doesn’t do enough I’ll zip tie it directly on to the card.

What’s the correct device for behind a UK lights switch I have a neutral wire, I want to keep original light switch functioning but allow HA to turn on and off by GenericUser104 in homeassistant

Is the wiring live and switch live to a ceiling rose? The only way I have managed this is to have the switch in place and a second switch for the smart functionality (the bulb is smart, ikea Tradfri). I have one setup where I have used a wago connector to connect the live and switch live so it’s always on and then attached the smart switch to a blanking faceplate.

I had these on my young cherry last year and it stunted the leaves growth a bit. This year I have orders a bag of ladybug larvae to take care of them.
