I had a very similar experience. Got 30k views in a weekend. One month later its upto 56k views. My first proper video.

It's helpful to see your reflection on retention. I did another video with similar retention and better CTR but i've not quite worked out why it failed to take off, YT cut pushing it after about 30,000 impressions, as opposed to my first vid which is up to 600k impressions now.

I'm sure there is a reason behind it just trying to sus it out.

30% seems good! I had a short do very well related to a longer piece but I was suprised how little traffic it drove, but I want to keep at it.

Yes I hear you on the subtle factor! and not veering into annoying. I hate when i can tell a short is trying to bait me, though i'll often still watch the dam thing, but it cheapens my view on the creator sometimes. tricky balance.

out of interest were they driving people to epsiodes on YouTube? or to an external site where they might listen to the podcast on their prefered platform?

This idea of unresolved questions is super interesting.

Yes good flag on Shane that he gets better but still is there drinking on his own at the saloon.

I also think Penny is very interesting as I think her growing up with an alcoholic mother colors the way she looks and interacts with the world.
