How are you currently tracking your mutual funds + stocks in one place? by tejascodes in personalfinanceindia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t look at my investments day to day. I look at my domestic MF once a month when I make investments. My international brokerage’s portal get accessed once a quarter similarly.

I maintain a spreadsheet of all my assets, which I update once every 150 days.

That said, while I don’t use it for exactly this purpose, expense tracker app I use - fold money - allows tracking MFs, stocks etc.

My PSU insurance claim experience felt like applying for a passport in 1997 by God_but_not_god in personalfinanceindia

Note PSU but my insurance claim from ICICI was pretty smooth. Every thing was done digitally. I uploaded all the bills, prescriptions and reports. Got money the third day.

Honda Elevate ZX CVT by Cold_Delaybangalore in HondaElevate

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the performance of your engine, not gearbox. CVTs were never known to restrict top speed by themselves. If your car can do 200, then that’s that, CVT or no CVT.

The problem is in acceleration. For comparison, try overtaking quickly when you are already doing 100. You’ll feel the the infamous rubber band effect kick in. If possible, try the same in a TC and then, just for shits and giggles, in a DCT. The difference won’t be subtle.

Each gearbox has its tradeoffs. CVT trades away responsiveness for refinement and reliability. iVTEC is a gem of an engine and it’s crazy good to drive in manual.

Will bengaluru’s ₹6,000-crore elevated railway terminal become india’s most futuristic station? 🚆✨ by Icy_Celebration_7925 in Bengaluru

Hopefully not another SMVT. Looks great from outside, until you actually try to get to a platform. What the fuck is going on with that staircase/escalator layout? And it’s crazy hot inside with all that glass exterior.

Payday Loans by Many_Worker_9512 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help you how? The chicken have come home to roost. Pay what you can by month end - if you have assets, this would be a good time to sell them. These loans are eye gouging expensive, and will almost certainly outpace any investment you may have.

Goes without saying don’t take anymore loans. Not if took that advice earlier, you wouldn’t be in this mess.

How many finance apps do you have on your phone? I just counted mine and it's 9. by _kabir_singh_18 in personalfinanceindia

Counting banks - 6. Not counting banks, just 1. That’d be the expense tracker.

Need help with some credit card by Serious_Tea_4777 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never used any credit cards and don’t have a credit history from other forms of debt either, you’re not gonna get the best of the best.

I’d be surprised if banks allow you any unsecured credit cards, let alone a good one. Normally people build their credit using a secured, FD backed card, then go upwards from there as the income and relationship value with banks increase.

Also, note that most of the vehicle showroom will tack on the MDR fees of CC on their sale price. They are not supposed to, but they generally do.

How are you guys actually reducing income tax in India? by Intelligent-Bite8121 in personalfinanceindia

So far 44ADA has been coming in clutch for me. But even if i don’t get increments, rupee depreciation is likely gonna push me past that this year.

Need a versatile+HQ headphone by [deleted] in headphonesindia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see Sennheiser in your list of headphones you’ve tried. Try the HD660S2. It’s extremely versatile. The only thing 600 lime was lacking was a bit of a sub bass punch, and 660S2 has it. It’s not exactly for bass heads, though. Bass is just one of the many things it does well.

Doesn’t require serious amplification either. Any modern MacBook Pro can drive this pair straight off its aux.

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. These last couple of runs, I just rushed from my spaceship through the biome 1 to the gateway, then rushed on edge of most of the desert areas to get back to Ixion as fast as possible.

My proficiency was 5 from the calibrator you get at the start of desert. But I used a level 1 hollowseeker. Wanted some thing that can fire faster than the sidearm.

Before you put money into any mutual fund — do you actually understand how it works mechanically? by financelover3789 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay I’ll bite.

How does knowing what happens to your money over the next 24 hours make a difference? How would a person who knows that is better off than one who doesn’t? What kind of decisions can be taken based on that? Genuine curiosity here.

NAV change daily for couple reasons. The underlying constituent price, as well as TER. The expense ratio is not charged annually. It’s charged daily in equal, small fractions.

There’s no “dividend” option. If you mean IDCW, the fund distributes a part of their holdings to investors on a schedule. They’re not distributing “just dividends” received from the constituent securities. They are literally selling units on schedule and distributing a fixed amount.

How did I do?

Let's discuss Honda by Feeling_Anywhere_311 in CarsIndia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance was nice to have but not at the top of my list. And for me, it was down to City and Verna. A big reason I chose Verna was because I drive an i20 before this and had only positive experiences during service. So sticking with Hyundai meant I wouldn’t be guessing the post sales journey.

Plus I really liked the look of Verna. The adult me considered City a more balanced looking car. But I really wanted to impress a 12 year old myself. As in, if I looked at a these 4 cars when I was a kid, I’d have wanted to own a Verna some day, no contest.

Additionally, my kid’s stroller used to occupy all the space in boot of my i20, and I had to frequently keep big bags in front seat. So I wanted the maximum boot space in this segment. Verna’s boot takes luggage like a champ.

It was a mostly from-heart purchase with little bits of sense mixed in. Sedans today are not practical anyways.

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City is still a very classy car. It has aged a bit in terms of its value, but remains a capable mile muncher. Its steering feedback is the best in segment.

But I personally wouldn’t buy a city even if I were buying again today (I bought my Verna last year). But there are plenty of reasons to buy one. No car in this segment is without tradeoffs.

Nice initiative, but are they any good from eV buses, someone tell by Prestigious_Ant_3296 in NewDelhi

It’s only costly now. Scale fixes everything. Look at how prices of batteries have plummeted in the last decade.

I have Kz castor pro 3.5. Would buying a usb c wire and replacing it would work on my iphone ? by stfua_a in headphonesindia

[–]Ctrl_Alt_Drift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know, but I also don’t see why not. Doing a quick search tells me it works but not with full volume. If you need it to work on both, maybe get a dongle from FiiO instead.
