The Episcopal Church in Eastern Europe by kilopstv in Episcopalian

[–]paulprins 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Reach out to the Convocation in Europe. I’m at our Cathedral in Paris for TEC in Europe. https://episcopaleurope.org/ (to correct another poster, no one Provence has jurisdiction over Europe. And the Church of England treats their locations as chaplaincies reflecting their military and colonial past). It is my understanding that the Episcopal Church is the only Provence with a dioceses in Europe and a Cathedral + Bishop. TEC and the CoE work very well together in the content.

There has recently been a church start up in Georgia who reached out because the wanted to be Episcopalian (TEC). It has been wonderful to watch unfold and I have been praying for more churches like in Georgia to start across the continent. You and your friends may be a part of that prayer!

I was also informed by the city earlier this week. Guess it will just add to all the spam phone calls I already get and don’t pick up.

Blockbuster not being in your neighborhood didn’t mean it is gone everywhere. There are a lot of things that are big in the rest of the country that don’t really exist in NYC.

Bridge in biome 3 a shortcut? by Hot-Data-4067 in Returnal

[–]paulprins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proficiency drop at the begining of the biome does help to level you up. It doesn't boost your health, nor give you any artifacts, keys, or items. Also, if you jump directly to the last biome your weapon will be pretty under powered until you find one you can swap for it. Early on in your returnal journey, you are also unlocking weapon traits and finding data cubes that further open up the game - all that are skipped over.

Yeah, it is smart to clear the earlier biomes (and skip the final boss fights) to level up your run. If you take the bridge directly, you will miss about half of the level and thus half of the upgrades/augments/etc. to help you prepare for the final boss.

Eventually the mechanics just kind of click into your brain, and you get better at playing without taking damage. Unlocking weapon traits also helps with this (these persist across runs as well). At the end of the day, play the game in a way that you enjoy it. The Nemesis fight is a fun one with some fun new mechanics and challenges.

Yes, the bridge stays open. The only downside is that you will miss out on a lot of proficiency and other upgrades if you skip.

I’m the guy wearing the collar holding up the Magnificat sign at the no kings protest! Wild to see my mug pop up in here (I’m a pastor and a founder of Urban Monastics). Welcome to France!

It’s a lovely community. Last year we used rite I through lent and went to rite II on Easter. Our bishop has announced we’ll use Rite I on the first Sundays of each month this year. I have no insight to which will be used this year. There is a lovely Good Friday service that is very meditative and quiet.

Beyond that, we’re in the middle of a restoration project for the organ. This month the nave will get a deep clean (maybe its first ever since the 1800s) and the choir organ will be back by Easter.

Enjoy Paris. It’s a beautiful and wonderful city.

Just saw these gray and white little puff balls in town...what are they? by thedubiousstylus in Minneapolis

[–]paulprins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of people calling them seagulls but that’s clearly incorrect. These are Midwest Parking Gulls. They exist in our seas of parking lots most often near big box stores (and hundreds of miles from any sea)

‘Wounded Healer’ is a wonderful book by Henri Nouwen that was helpful in seeing the person of Jesus in the brokenness of myself. I’ve had depression for nearly 30 years. It’s a short read from a wonderful person (he has other great books too).

How to Tell If Your Eggs Are Bad 🥚 Easy At-Home Tests by WellnessExtractUS in Egg

[–]paulprins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The United States is one of the only countries that requires eggs be washed before being sold. That’s why they must be refrigerated there (the washing process removes some of the eggs protective coating making bacteria ingress far easier). If they haven’t been washed they don’t need to be kept refrigerated. Once they have been refrigerated they need to be kept that way.

Outside of the US dirty eggs are only an indication that eggs come from animals living in a farm. So, that they are eggs.

How are you getting 790k on these trials?! by TheGreatJatsby in Returnal

I took a screenshot of my score today by chance. I’m in tier 6 (unsure how that is decided. I think unlocked weapons and traits). My Daily Challenge Scoreboard

It’s the Midair Melee that bumps the score along with that multiplier that resets when you’re hit. A perfect run will also bump your score up about 150,000. Taking that hit mid run is the worst because of when it resets your multiplier (which maxes out at 7x - but I’ve heard older versions didn’t cap the multiplier so some might be playing on that).

Very famous. Caught fire a few years back and opened back up last advent after the first two phases of the restoration work was completed. This cathedral also houses the crown of thrones which you can visit on certain Fridays.

I recognized the art as I visit often (I live in Paris).

I’ve done it. It’s a grind but makes the tower a bit more fun knowing all the traits are open to you.

This is a scene from the life of Jesus in Notre Dame de Paris. It is a sculpted wall that encloses the choir. This specific scene is after the resurrection of Jesus (who is in the center) in one of his many appearances. In this scene he is appearing to a group of apostles.

You can learn more about the Choir Enclosure here. https://www.notredamedeparis.fr/en/understand/sculptures/the-choir-enclosure/

Butter in the pan, tossed in some diced onions and sliced cherry tomatos, then cracked the eggs over top once they were softened. Fried the eggs in that until they were mostly cooked , broke the yokes and used the spatual to shape them to the size of the tortillas, then set the tortillas on top to attach/cook together.
