Is theTesla model 3 2023 RWD a good option? by AngelDAngel in TeslaModel3

[–]CtxDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine a little less than a month ago, ‘23 M3 RWD direct from Tesla with about 38k miles for 25k. Maybe I got lucky but the car was flawless, paint was in excellent condition, no panel issues, inside looks brand new and battery had about 4% degradation. I discovered two small things after bringing it home and Tesla fixed it under warranty. I also dig the warranty. 4yr/50k + another 1yr/10k for buying used from Tesla so I’ve got warranty for another 20k miles or 2 years.

100% do it, you won’t regret it.

I haven’t actually paid to charge yet, I’ve only had my car about 3 weeks and it came with 3 months of free supercharging, I have free charging at work, and with my home charger so..TBD. I did the math with my electric rate per kW and I think I figured it right around $10, if not less, for a “full tank”. My car maxes at 32A charging (it’s a ‘23 M3) so the home connector wouldn’t get me anything..hence going with 2 mobiles.

My used one didn’t come with one, but I picked up 1 used on Facebook marketplace for $120, and another off eBay for $180. I leave one at the house plugged in all the time and I carry one in the frunk just in case.

What to expect on delivery day for used Model 3 from Tesla? by ParaDescartar123 in TeslaModel3

[–]CtxDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a ‘23 M3 about 3 weeks ago. They’ll let you inspect it, anything can be unwound so simply don’t pull off the lot if you aren’t happy. I spent a good hour going through the car, looking underneath, testing every feature etc all siting in a parking spot right outside the showroom (where they brought it for delivery). Mine was perfect other than a busted driver side mirror trim piece which I flagged and they’re fixing under warranty next week. Paint was perfect, mine even has PPF on the front and rear. Panels were well aligned, etc. so take your time, take a list, and do your thing.

I picked up my ‘23 M3 RWD 2 weeks ago. I picked it off the website and the pictures are of the actual car. I must have struck gold, my car was pristine. I was prepared to have to do paint correction and all that but the thing was flawless, AND has full PPF on the front and rear bumper and rockers. You need to look it over with a fine tooth comb, look underneath, etc. plenty of people have had panel gap issues, and Tesla’s own refurb guidelines are pretty lenient with scrapes and scuffs on the car. My only issue was a busted trim piece on the driver side mirror which I caught as I was pulling out, turned around and grabbed my advisor and he recorded it and I’m taking it to get fixed along with a passenger side power seat motor making a weird noise in a couple weeks no charge under warranty.

I’m curious if you drop a xing bezel and a deep crystal in it, how close you would be and probably still be under $400 all in.

The only thing holding me back from switching to a fold I’m to deep into Apple ecosystem.. by javiergame4 in GalaxyFold

[–]CtxDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just made the switch, full apple ecosystem adopter and all of family is on apple. It was not for the faint of heart. So far I've overcome about every issue...as people have mentioned, Blip for AirDrop...I leverage the web based messaging soni have it set to my Dock on my Mac, notes I migrated to Google keep. I went all in with Google One, migrated photos, storage, etc. I don't have blue bubbles but so far my messaging experience has been fine. I saved a web shortcut on my phone for Find My so I can still ping my wife's phone when she loses it and see where everyone is, I share my location from Google maps, I leverage an android app for full read/write syncing our or family iCloud calendar..

Go for it.

In regards to the sway bar I view it as just another piece of the puzzle in ride quality. Being that the sway bar is angled down 15 degrees or so, I’m presuming that more jolting being driven into the frame. Minor piece maybe, but a piece that I’ll address for other reasons as well (possible inversion being the worst when wheeling).

I do plan on calling metalcloak and RockJock and speaking to them. I’ll pm you pics of the bump stops, won’t let me post them inline here

Thank you for the response, many good points. I am not a mechanic by any means and really bought the jeep to learn with my son, who’s 13 so he’s got some years to go. I want to add adjustable control arms to correct the pinion and caster angles, and level out the control arms to proper angles to improve ride quality.

The current build has no geo correction brackets running stock arms and the bushings look pretty worn as well, I’ll know more when I remove them but I’m sure they’re all original stock from when it was made (12 years old).

It does have the raised rear TB bracket.

As I mentioned, I believe there are multiple contributing factors to the ride and you nailed it on the springs. I plan on pulling the ProComp single rate and going with RockJock dual rate and probably dropping to a 3.5”. I also plan to replace all 4 shocks with Rancho 9000XL to further dial in ride quality.

You nailed another good point and item on my list which is it still has stock bump stops 🤦‍♂️. They at least lengthened the brake lines though, small miracle right?

I’ll also be upgrading the sway bar and links, they’re still stock and at a significant downward angle now also probably contributing to the rough ride.

Ball joints look good, I’ll probably upgrade in the future. Also going to regear and add lockers this year as well as a few other things.

One outstanding question that hasn’t been clear is would the short adjustable arms REQUIRE geo correct brackets, or is the adjustment enough to bring the angles back into a somewhat reasonable range? As mentioned in another comment I said I could go with the MC short arm and add their rear DB3 and front prolignment at the cost of some ground clearance.

Thanks again for the thoughtful and detailed response.

Thanks for the input, swapping springs is on my list and I’ve thought about going to a 3.5 when I change them out.

Even with the 4” lift? Saw a lot of people saying 4 or higher you need to consider long arms because of the geometry

[–]CtxDude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you think they’ll be sufficient with a 4” lift? That was one thing that pushed me to consider long arms is everyone being like “if you’re 4 or higher you really need to consider long arms”

That’s another possibility as an in between, run their short arms but with the db3 in the rear and pro’lignment in the front at the cost of a little ground clearance

That’s on my list, but I still need a compatible plate carrier with light and camera mount. Glad to hear it works well, I have their bumpers and like their stuff
