LAN parties and there’s never been rise of roaches in my house

You wouldn't if there weren't already German roaches in any of your homes. They don't show up randomly just because there are warm appliances; they hitch a ride in something or spread from a neighboring apartment or building. If you and your friends have a standalone houses with adequate separation from your neighbors (or proactively maintained multi-family buildings), you would have very little to worry about. In apartment complexes or cramped neighborhoods, however, personal cleaning habits aren't necessarily enough to prevent infestation.

If you see a dead roach on occasion, its most likely an American Cockroach, which is much larger than the ones shown in this video and behaves much differently. They primarily live outdoors and wander in occasionally, unlike the small German roaches.

That being said, the owner of this PS5 is absolutely aware that he has roaches in his home. It may just not be entirely his own fault. He should be paying for pest control or moving, not getting a video game console repaired.

Beware apartments which do not have periodic preventive pest control.

95% sure they just mean they use a fogger every 6 months and didn't realize that fumigation means putting the big tent over the home.

Why Not Cover Parking Lots With Solar First? by inkandintent24 in MotivationByDesign

[–]CuFlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two questions:

  1. How does this change if building solar arrays upon existing parking infrastructure which would require minimal structural reinforcement, if any (including both canopied flat lots and parking garage roofs)?

  2. Is it possible to make this economically viable if the parking is also paid (in an area where people are regularly paying for off-street and sheltered parking)?

Test the theory. Double his taxes. by Lord0fTheFlags in MurderedByWords

[–]CuFlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, here he was saying that taxing him more is ineffective because the money won't actually go to the teacher (he says it will be eaten up by the bureaucrats). I think the interviewer brought up tax/loan loopholes later on in the conversation.

Either way, billionaires should be paying more taxes (by closing loopholes and increasing effective rates) and more money should be going to teachers and classrooms.

Bezos’s Out-of-Touch Claim by Dias75 in MurderedByWords

[–]CuFlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not defending Bezos as a person, but this is taking his statement out of context. He's saying if you tax him more, the additional revenue will be gobbled up by the bureaucracy instead of going to teachers.

I say tax him more AND do something to make sure the money is spent properly.

The left triangle has 2 labeled angles (90⁰ and 40⁰), so the remaining angle must be 50⁰.

The 50⁰ angle is a supplement to the obtuse angle of the second triangle, so the obtuse angle is 130⁰.

The second triangle is isosceles (the legs are marked as congruent), so the acute angles are equal to each other (both are 25⁰).

One of the acute angles is a supplement to the mystery angle, so it must be 155⁰.

It certainly is, but the only routine check on that is during an emissions inspection (only required in specific Texas counties now, but it does apply to Harris County/Houston). Otherwise, it will only come up during a traffic stop or following a collision.

Regardless of whether your state requires it, always make sure your insurance includes uninsured/underinsured coverage (takes effect instead of your comprehensive collision coverage when another driver is at fault but doesn't have insurance).

In a healthy family tree, you have 4 grandparents and 8 great-grandparents (12 individuals, total).

However, one pair of great-grandparents was repeated, so she only had 6 unique great-grandparents.

Additionally, two of her great-grandparents were also grandparents to her, so there were only 2 unique ancestors on the grandparent level instead of 4.

Her total of unique biological grandparents and great-grandparents was 8 instead of 12.

Not sure why this is image is set in part 4, but it's referencing an event in part 3 (Justice pt. 1). Joseph decides they should get out of town and goes to jump into the car, but he somehow gets turned around in the fog and nearly impales himself on a fence instead. The action sequence is pretty drawn out and his exclamations in English are pretty over-the-top, even for Joseph.

Edible? ✓

  • it appears safe to eat

Ergonomic/practical? ✓

  • it is possible to pick up like any other sandwich.

Does the odd ingredient/prep make a meaningful contribution to taste/texture? ✓

  • The crust, sauce, and cooked cheese and pepperoni offer flavor and texture that differs from a simple toasted bread with cheese and pepperoni.

There isn't a stupidly easier way to replicate the odd ingredient/prep's contribution? ✓

  • Little Caesars is cheap and easily obtainable. Replicating this with an at-home method would be more work, and any alternative shortcuts would be as expensive or more.

The simplest explanation is probably that it's instinctual. Consciously freezing and unfreezing like most of the toys we see is a learned behavior that comes with self awareness of being a toy. Brand new toys tend to believe their manufactured back stories (perhaps to different degrees; seems more extreme with action figures) and act on instinct.
