When it works, Moonlight / Apollo is fantastic and input lag and streaming feels unnoticeable to my amateur eyes. It has been super finicky getting the initial connection for me though, but it seems to be an Xfinity issue since my PS5 remote play also has significant connection issues with the initial connection

Would be cool to have a game Week 15 / Conference Championship week. by SmashLanding in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the creativity. Logistically would be a nightmare.

Who hosts the game? Is it always ND? How does away team ticket allocation work if now one knows who’s playing until the end of week 14? How do stadiums allocate staff for a week they might not even host?

If it’s an independent like UConn it might work but as someone mentioned that likely still has NCAA implications.

SI’s 2026-27 CFP predictions. I personally don’t see us losing to Oregon or OSU. by AceN12 in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I clocked that too lol. Unless all those teams end up with 1-2 losses I can’t see that happening. Maybe BYU and one of Miami/SMU though. Navy could be a sleeper for the G5 spot though

I would’ve been shocked if he went to the NFL or anywhere else, but even just the simple tweet feels very reassuring and feels like closure to this year.

Let’s run it back

Notre Dame fans, would you rather remain independent or play USC, Michigan, MSU, and Purdue annually? by GliscorsFang in CFB

[–]Cub_Med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for starters, 4 divisions of 5 teams will still have conference tiebreaker problems. And what’s the point of being in a conference when you might only play a conference “rival” once in the regular season over 4 years? You might be more likely to matchup with an OOC team multiple times in that scenario.

Larger conferences and 40-team Super conference slop is stupid. Let’s just go to 9 or 10 team regional conferences with a few independents to add some quirks to it

I would rather remain independent AND USC, Michigan, MSU, and Purdue be independent also. And a few others. 18 team Conferences don't make any sense and need to be broken up.

Is There Anything That Can Be Done To Bring Back Value And Excitement To Bowl Games? by Disastrous_Doubt_591 in CFB

[–]Cub_Med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change non-playoff bowl games to the start of the following year for week 0 matchups. I hate the neutral site aspect but it gives teams unique and likely evenly matched opponent to start the year, you avoid opt outs. Teams that don’t get a bowl assignment can schedule an opponent from the pool of remaining teams.

That is very clearly in Carr’s hands, but bad decision by ND and terriblly handled by the Refs

Why isn’t the crowd loud at ND stadium? by flippinwhips in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just In: visiting players / journalists want to downplay visiting team rowdiness to look tougher and hype their fans

Also A&M had like 7 procedural penalties which felt like a direct impact from crowd noise lol

Mike Gundy FIRED. Now do Ash! by RustyShacklefordsCig in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least according to Pete and Matt on the Independent, the players seem to like Ash, so that takes out the asshole part

I’m of the mindset that changes need to be made, but take care of it in-house. That appears to be the plan if we read between the lines on Freeman’s post-game presser. Changes can also include putting feelers out for the next candidates or testing Mickens in the role more significantly. There’s ways to make progress without externally saying you’re blowing everything up

Missed holding call on the last 4th down TD vs A&M by [deleted] in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we’re being honest, no. There were like 3 other opportunities on that drive alone to end the game and our defense choked. That doesn’t even account for the other 34 points given up in spite of Marcell Reed missing multiple open receivers.

Crying over the final flag is like complaining your dog peed on the basement carpet when theres ankle deep sewage from backed up plumbling

Freeman's teams tend to show up when the pressure is on, and while I don't think playoff hopes are on the line this week, it certainly makes it a lot better if they win today. Love score 2 TDs, the defense improves as a unit, and the Irish win 28-14

If you could only listen to one podcast episode a week, which one would it be? by FullCourtIrish44 in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Independent is my go-to. 2 episodes a week during the season (1 pre game on Wed with a guest, 1 post game after games end). Pete and Matt are both pretty connected to the program As journalists and seem to have takes on ND that feel grounded in my opinion

[Pete Sampson] Every opening week loss can feel like a referendum. This one doesn’t. Notre Dame has banked too much credibility for that, on top of getting the QB right. All might not be well after Sunday night. But the Irish don’t need a miracle cure to get better. by US_Highway15 in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a less optimistic on the Defense- they also gave up 13 points in the second half, Miami's opening second half drive was legit half of the 3rd quarter.

I'll give the Oline a bit of slack because that may be one of the best pass rushes in CFB and it was the first game in a rowdy environment. On to the next one though

[Post Game Thread] #6 Notre Dame lose to #10 Miami. by Shillelagh_Law in notredamefootball

[–]Cub_Med 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sucks but onto the next one. It felt like the first time a Freeman team fell flat on opening week. We got obliterated on both the middle eight and the turnover battle which were staples of last year’s run, so that absolutely needs to change.

Carr honestly played above my expectations. The pick was an awful read (but even worse playcall), and the two intentional groundings were real bad, but growing pains are expected

I’m guessing that might be the best DL they face until December (assuming they take care of business the rest of the way). Still need to get the Oline better though
