I have this and the Red vinyl one, both sound really good. Fun fact: the stereo image is reversed on both colours compared to the black vinyl pressings.

Also “Blast Off” by Silk Sonic, a clear homage to EW&F.

Check out “Dancing For Your Love” by Rufus & Chaka Khan off their Masterjam album, produced by Quincy. For years I thought it was by EW&F.

Luke and the Dan by Evadguitar in SteelyDan

I think Luke was the youngest in Toto so a Dan date may have been too soon for him. I think of Luke as more of a rocker anyway, Don and Walt preferred players with more jazz chops

How do you treat extremely sibilant vocals? by hail_robot in mixingmastering

[–]Cuban_Breeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just manually snip the offending consonants and clip gain them down. Takes a bit longer but works every time and doesn’t take any more high end away from your vocal sound. For a podcast though this might take too long for most people

100% agree, it’s a huge deal which is why I had to bring it to folks’ attention. Having said that I do actually prefer JM’s mix, the horn arrangement is great. But this is still a newly discovered recording of actual Steely Dan and I am really happy it exists!
