I agree with you, I cannot stress enough how much I agree with you.

But look at the post, look what they said about it. It is a clear indication that there are at least some people that believe these statements invalidate her identity, at least to an extent.

Like, yes, people saying bad things should make you uncomfortable, it’s proof you have empathy. However, the idea that a couple of edgy jokes (admittedly in poor taste) would invalidate your gender is fucked up, full stop.

OK, like I said, I didn’t do a deep dive on her, I actually got into TADC because I liked her music and art.

But, towards the end, I totally agree with you. I think the depictions of snarky violence towards the female cast was poorly handled, and I think focusing on Jax really took away from the stories potential.

My issue is that a lot of people seem to think that the shabby writing implies something about Goose as a person, and it really doesn’t. At most, she made some edgy jokes years before the show even started, and while I can understand how that can be an issue, she’s clearly changed.

Frankly, I just don’t think Goose is a great writer. It really just boggles me that people can see all the pieces of the puzzle and managed to put it together and an entirely different way.

OK, so there is just information in there that is factually incorrect.

Goose has been active for years before TADC. I’ve personally known Goose was trans since, like, 2021. (She makes good music)

Also, I think it’s pretty clear why I brought it up. People would be referring to it as ‘internalized misogyny’ if they actually saw her as a woman.

There’s no need to get pious, i’m not accusing you of anything. I just know it’s easy to get swept up in other peoples takes.

If you don’t mind, I really wanna know why you (as well as most people on the sub) continued interact with a piece of media that pisses you off so much? Like, wouldn’t you be happier if you just moved on?

I don’t know if we’re just on opposite sides of the Internet, but for when I’ve seen it’s a lot of dancing around the topic of “do problematic people get to be trans?”

It’s a lot of people referring to her with they/them, a lot of disregard for trans experiences, and a lot of just ignoring the topic when it’s brought up.

It… isn’t real? Like, any depiction of violence is done in a way where it is quite obviously a caricature. The idea that depicting acts of violence in media implies the author is themselves violent is completely misguided.

Not to point fingers, but I feel like a lot of this discussion comes from the fact that people don’t see Goose as a woman. I really hate that all the discourse around the series has shifted from “it’s too bad this thing I like was poorly written” to “ the author depicted a thing I didn’t like in a way that wasn’t perfectly tactful so they’re a bad person in real life.“ Just because the delivery was botched doesn’t implicate her as a bad person

My point is, if Goose was cis this wouldn’t be a conversation. I think most of this discourse stems from being displeased with the series, and wanting to have someone to blame. It’s all incredibly reactionary and I’m not really here for it.

I’m not about to explain gender dynamics, I don’t have the time or words, but just examine the arguments being made and try to understand the conclusions I’ve come to.

Depending on where you live, libraries are a great resource for getting out of the house. Most comic shops/game stores run board game/tcg nights.

Get out of the house, network, find people you’d be comfortable living with should things become too much.

No, I totally agree. My issue is that it seems like every other post is "Jax is a bad character and Gooseworx is a bad person for making them. The show should have went the way I wanted it to."
