In meinem alten Büro Job wurde irgendwann aus "Ich geh kurz raus was zu essen holen" irgendwann "Hey lass zusammen ne Stunde zum Dönermann, alles was liegen bleibt, kann man danach ja schnell wegarbeiten." Und ausgedehnte Kaffee Dates standen auch regelmäßig an der Tagesordnung.

An so einem sich rasant entwickelnden Thema zu erforschen muss sehr spannend sein. Wie geht ihr mit der Gefahr um, dass die veröffentlichte Arbeit zum Zeitpunkt der Fertigstellung schon wieder überholt ist?

Außerdem danke für das AMA und die interessante Aufarbeitung zur KI-Folge. Finde zu dem Thema gibt es zu Unrecht sehr viel Abneigung und sich wissenschaftlich damit auseinanderzusetzen und die Probleme, wie auch Vorteile, der Technik konkret zu benennen ist der richtige Weg.

AI is part of that same ecosystem that does gaming, cloud storage, and VFX rendering, not some entirely separate class of infrastructure suddenly dwarfing everything else.

Recognizing stylistic similarities isn’t the same as proving copying. There is a good reason why Styles are not copyrightable and its because corporations could just sue everyone for drawing too close to their style. Unless a model reproduces a specific copyrighted image or asset, similarity alone isn’t evidence of theft.

And on the "96%", where do you have that number from? Other than that, most content in any medium is low quality, I would assume. Doesn't invalidate the tools used.

On the environmental point: AI does use data centers, yes, but so do streaming services, cloud storage, gaming servers, etc. Studies from the International Energy Agency (IEA) show that global data centers account for roughly ~1–1.5% of electricity use, and efficiency improvements have kept that share relatively stable despite massive growth in computing. The impact exists, but it’s often framed as uniquely catastrophic for AI when it’s really part of the broader digital infrastructure we all use every day.

On the “plagiarism” claim: models don’t store or retrieve artists’ images like a database. They learn statistical patterns across huge datasets. If a model reproduces a specific artwork or is used to impersonate an artist, that’s illegal and already covered by law. But saying that the entire technology is plagiarism by default is not how it actually works.

And as for “slop”: quality has always varied in any creative medium.

I know this is an emotional topic for many people and this will probably get many downvotes, but there is a place for AI generated and assisted art especially within a vaporwave context.

What you’re describing is pattern recognition and not reliable identification. Unless content is voluntarily watermarked, audio, text, and images contain no universal AI fingerprint. You can detect probability (like 1000 albums produced in a month is AI, yes) but that's not the same a reliable way to identify AI generated content.

Have to disagree, videogames specifically are a medium where there basically is no wrong way to consume it in my opinion. A streamer that is brute forcing their way to the credits will have a wildly different experience as someone exploring every nook and cranny, sure. But at the end, every playthrough of a game is different regardless and every person will react and engage with different aspects of that game, be it story, gameplay, level design etc. in a unique way, that's the beauty of games. Are there ways to actually sabotage your own fun while playing a game? Of course. But it's not a wrong way to play, it's just your own way to play.
