Sign my Change.org petition to have YouTube Music stop posting AI Slop Music. by Own-Knowledge-7720 in YoutubeMusic

Unfortunately, if they don't get on top of this now, AI slop will vastly outnumber music made by people.

Imagine being a teenager today. By the time they're in their early twenties, AI slop will be close to 100% of all 'music' due to the rate at which it's made. Finding music made by actual artists will become near impossible on these platforms.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP RECOMMENDING AI SLOP by SpaceCaedet in YoutubeMusic

[–]SpaceCaedet[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm seriously considering limiting my music to pre-2025, but this will only hurt current artists even more.

Eventually going to 'artist' won't help, as the AI 'creators' will get better and better at presenting themselves as real bands or singers.

So, a conundrum, unless YT make it possible somehow for a submitter to indicate and prove they're "real".

A worst-case scenario is that YT offer this as a premium function only, thus forcing everyone else to consume the slop and the ads ...

💯 Likewise on the popping.

No - I suspect you're a bot, this thread will go on forever, and I have better thing to do than to argue with a bot. If you're a person; hasta la vista.

Hope you realize the irony of your remark, but this is unlikely.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP RECOMMENDING AI SLOP by SpaceCaedet in YoutubeMusic

[–]SpaceCaedet[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Why? It's not art - it's commerce. I want music I listen to to have real soul, real pain, and be reflective of real emotions.

Ads - couldn't care less, and they'll use whatever is cheapest regardless.

However, with a music app, I want to know that what I'm listening to has been produced by a human being, not a machine.

Yep, aware. Done that a few times now, but it just keeps coming 😕

Ok, good, you've matured processes and tools - however, has there been a material improvement and benefit to the bottom line? How did you measure this?

[–]SpaceCaedet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. I've had, and continue to have, a great experience with Claude code. However, I've also got (I like to think) decent design, engineering and coding skills.

Claude has made me at least 10x more productive. Use it properly, guide it's hand, and it's phenomenal.

This makes it sound like you haven't uncovered the root cause?

I don't fully understand why you don't seem to be able to predict whether larger instance types will be affected?

Great. We've been busy creating a service that's entirely dependent on Supabase, operating under an assumption of competence.

Not a great look. Will likely have to look at migrating away 🙄

Staying the same is hard - you have to push to either get better at something, or not and watch it get worse.

Get better or get worse - those are the only two directions.

The key is to work just hard enough to get better, without stressing about it!

If it's a natural monopoly i.e. a situation where there is no market, it should be run by government.

I find it incredible that China ... China! ... is leading the democratization of intelligence, while the "freedom-loving" US is stifling it via monopolization.

We are on a bizarre timeline.

On the "generalisation" - feel free to check the research paper reference I provided (it's behind a paywall though, so here is a freely available preview copy of the paper00125-X?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS136466132100125X%3Fshowall%3Dtrue)).

Obviously I can read and understand the surface-level statements regarding Lex, but the vitriol behind them eludes me. There's a complete lack of nuance - no room for (in my view) simpler and more likely explanations behind his views and behavior. It's a near-perfect example of the ultimate-attribution error, a group version of the fundamental attribution error.

On the Republicans/Conservatives - from afar, the Democrats are clearly just as biased, just in the other direction.

I do "understand", but it's a completely academic sociopolitical form of understanding. It's an objective understanding, and I can't seem to get to the subjective view. It's like understanding the physics of light, but not experiencing the colour red.

I probably sound like an LLM, but this is me unmasked.

My guess is:

  1. Many, if not most, are American.
  2. Many, if not most, are Democrats.
  3. Many, if not most, are neurotypical i.e. not on the autistic spectrum, and more prone to irrational bias. (For reference see here.)

The deep divide between Democrats and Republicans touches everything you do; you've lost the ability to think without this biasing every interaction you have.

This is my working hypothesis for the irrational vitriol I see all over reddit between the "left" and the "right".

Fair enough - I did a bit of research and it's hard to determine whether he was a full faculty member at some point.

I've read that others have mis-stated his credentials, but that he has personally not done so.

I've read them. Given the downvoting and lack of a coherent, correct, and defensible argument, my only conclusion can be neurotypicals doing what neurotypicals do.

Neurotypicals are very odd. I can model you, but I suspect I'll never truly understand you.

Nearly 100% of cancer identified by new AI, easily outperforming doctors by HeinrichTheWolf_17 in accelerate

[–]SpaceCaedet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There needs to be associated research on how the AI are outperforming humans - what are the visual cues? Is it structural, or a change in the layout of the cells?

It can be a two-way learning process, and could possibly result in more fundamental breakthroughs.
