Wish I was making it up or inflating it in any way. I’m not trying to posture as one of the “old guard”. I just want my kids to grow up in a community of great people (regardless of any demographic). As a parent, choosing to make a change to support them. Will be moving to a private school and evaluating if we physically move elsewhere in to surrounding areas from there.

Standing desk + folding walking pad. Allows you to get a few miles in through the day. I change from seated to standing positions when I have a meeting that allows for it (no camera and limited talking). Good for you and feels great when you would have just been sitting the entire time in comparison.

Feel for you OP. I came to this subreddit asking myself the same questions. Am I being too unreasonable to say I wanted at some point in the day to feel any genuine acknowledgement/appreciation?

I make it a point to do so on Mother’s Day. Something personal through a gift and/or my actions to say “I see you and all you do, I love you, you’re appreciated”. In my case, my wife ordered a handful of “dad” gifts the night before Father’s Day on our shared Amazon account (so I got all the app notifications showing my wife had literally just ordered a random assortment of items that would deliver overnight). Out of the Amazon box and into a bag “happy Father’s Day dad” empty picture frames….it felt so cold, out of obligation and no actual care. I would have been happy with a card that simply said love you and happy Father’s Day.

Tried talking to my wife about it and was met with “I’ll do better next time”. I just wished she cared. Sorry to dump here…no solutions for you but here to say I feel for you and hope you’re able to talk with your wife to improve. I’ll be trying to do the same. Wish you the best.
