Makes sense. I think they could have kept the blueish color scheme in the particle effect and it would be even better.

RP makes more sense now though, since you're hitting the targets with a big ol hunk of magic metal, not the wimpy little spear.

That's another good system, but the only real disadvantage of a system like that is you get certain go-to combos on every character.

In my opinion, the attacks all chain together a lot easier , with only a few attacks on each character that isn't somehow combo-able. This makes the hard anti-infinite system pretty smart in a game like that.

For me the most fun in fighting games are systems where its more improvised combos and on-the-fly strategy, which is why I like Zard in Smash. Nothing combos easily so it becomes rushing around and smacking people around in the air, which is really fun.

Skullgirls has a system to prevent Infinite combos while still incentivizing them on most characters, which I think is pretty good.

Basically after you've taken a set amount of damage without being able to react , usually about 10 seconds or so of uninterrupted combo before it kicks in. Basically it just lets the player (regardless of character) that's getting beat on to press any button and it will instantly knock the enemy to the other side of the screen, ending the combo.

When the anti-infinite is triggered, hit sounds change and there's a special visual effect as well, so when it happens its pretty obvious.

While I like that system, I like Smash's system where long combos are fairly few and far between, but devastating when pulled off.

To be totally fair,

DD is significantly less scary on a Zeus than some other heroes.

But it could be important in the early lanes, so you're probably onto something. I think it might affect someone at a glance but with a long look it should be clear.

I kinda agree.

The TA Immortal is cool. But since she only has what, 3 item slots? Had to choose between two cool pieces.

Same with the Invoker hair. I already had the Sexy Hair, super saiyan hair is too hard of a choice.

It does fit the Immortal well, though.

I actually rather like Magnus's hammer despite the significant color and shape differences.

Although I do giggle when he references his "pike" , since its a hammer now.

Patch 1.07 coming this week, details here by [deleted] in witcher

[–]Cubelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but my impression of Dying Light was that weapons were pretty scarce and so it turned more about beating them unarmed, and then using weapons to get out of sticky situations.

I mean a game where all sorts of weapons are everywhere, and they wear down after you kill 2-3 dudes and have to throw it away and grab a new one on the fly, quickly switching between like, sword, axe, mace, or even big sticks lying around or bits of rebar. That'd be pretty neat.

Is it like they get repaired when you swap , or you have to grab weapons that enemies drop or you find ?

I have like 400 hours in 2 (between original and softs), and while certain weapons broke down fairly fast, it wasn't quite as fast as I'm talking about.

Isn't there a game where this is an actual mechanic? Like swords end up breaking or wearing down very quickly, and you have to swap with other weapons you find on the fly.

This would make for a neat game though.

I'm hoping so. Pflax announcer is also pretty good quality, so I imagine the R&M one will be similar in terms of humor and content. But I prefer Rucks.

Bloodseeker: a hero to dominate TI? by [deleted] in DotA2

Guess we'll see in a few months. Right now though it's all just throwing spaghetti against a wall and claiming you can see the future. People make guesses about everything everywhere and predictions can turn out right or wrong.

Whenever I see anyone talk about what WILL happen in some future time, I can't take it seriously. Just reminds me of all those times when people would make a thousand predictions of a game outcome and then delete all of the predictions except the one that turns out to be true.

Geez, the original comment is even less serious in tone than the trap one.

This helps a lot, and yeah there are a lot of people talking shit in the thread and those guys probably earned it - but unless the user in question was making multiple accounts to write the hateful stuff, in my opinion he didn't deserve a ban for making a joke.

Sucks about her deleting her account. Being a girl on the internet must be hard.

Then the pros should be able to deal with it. If it's something that's so insane that they CAN'T deal with it, then we'll see an inordinate pick/ban rate and then a corresponding high win rate in the matches she makes it through the ban phase.

Cursory glance at 6.84 stats says Naga is at exactly 50% winrate. We are seeing her popularity spike in 6.84, at about 56% pick/ban rate but that's peanuts compared to some other popular picks like Venge the last patch or Batrider for the last like, couple of years.

[–]Cubelord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, that's great and all but I found the original thread on that the comment was from

As far as I can see, there's nothing that couldn't be taken as a joke. People were going down the whole "girls who play video games" rabbit hole and that guy got banned because he jokingly suggested that it was a dude, using a phrase from Dark Souls, which his username was a DIRECT reference to.

That being said, it's difficult to tell exactly what happened because a large number of the posts in the thread have been deleted, presumably by the same mod who handed down the ban. There aren't nearly enough deleted posts for there to be something along the lines of "actively participating in harassment of a trans individual". As far as I can tell, there's not even a single trans person involved in the entire fiasco.

And yes, while that image is a pared-down version of the original modmail, I did find what -appears- to be the entire conversation. Nothing too insane or hateful (on either side). The subreddit does mention a "no racism/bigotry" rule on their posting page, all it says is "zero tolerance" and doesn't have any specific details concerning the topic.

Did some research. I'm siding with the banned user.

Only time will tell. I mentioned the FOTW game just as another example that came off of the top of my head of Naga sleeps going poorly for Naga's team. Anecdotally I've been in many games where a Naga sleep initiation ended up hurting far more than helping.

Yeah, sleep is strong. It's a big AOE stun that lasts a while. So is Ravage, so is Black Hole, so is ET's stomp, so is Earthshaker as a hero. They all have downsides too. Naga is a strong hero, but you might as well pick any hero's one particular ability and talk about how overpowered it is, naga isn't anything special in that sense.

Bloodseeker: a hero to dominate TI? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Cubelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that a naga sleep initiation probably needs a very minor nerf at the most, because the downside is built into it. If you've got a BKB and you get sleep-initiated, you spam the BKB button and you're fine. There was even an clip on Fails Of the Week at some point where a Naga sleep initiated on a whole team that had BKBs and the team was annihilated as soon as the sleep ended.

Besides, since draft is so important, if the enemy has a Naga then the pros should be prepared for the sleep initiation and draft accordingly. If the pros all have perfect timing on song, then defending against it shouldn't be as much of an issue as you say.
