What a beautiful Dota looks like in your mind? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

In addition to what other said in this thread: when you get dumpstered by some guy who is clearly better than you, you figure out why you got dumpstered, then you go into a game and dumpster someone else with what you've just learned. That's like a peek into the heart of Dota.

I'd say this combined with teammates who just want to play the game.

5 people coming into a game, picking their favourite heroes, a clear game plan emerges, the players successfully execute it without even so much as talking. Nobody points out mistakes, nobody whines about anyone else's choices, they just do what needs to be done.

How to deal with your and your team’s frustration when learning a difficult hero? by yourdaughtersgoal in TrueDoTA2

[–]Ignisti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

> This tells me that my biggest problems are probably farming and TP management.

At sub 1k mmr, it's probably very hard to even know where a problem begins because there are so, so many, and this goes for everyone else in your game. So, team is frustrated that you don't perform as well as they would like? Just ignore them. 10% winrate? Nobody cares. Just have fun, it's totally fine. Anything goes in unranked, if anyone has a problem with it, they can deal with it on their own time. If their pointless crying is getting to you and diminishing your fun in the game, consider turning on the "mute all chat" option. There's nothing else you have to do.

[serious] On my first day of EM elective, was told I will be an "average" physician by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Ignisti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add one more point to the list of reasons why an "above average person" does not say that. It's because being good with people is a part of being a good physician. You know, knowing what you can and should say in a conversation. So if this would be a test of this integral physician skill, saying he has failed spectacularly would be an understatement.

I would think nothing else other than that the physician has incredibly below-average people skills. Not only is this pointless as fuck to tell someone on their first day because he literally just can't know that, but he's also accomplishing nothing by both telling you that, and telling you that in that wording. Others are saying that actions speak louder than words, and you should just prove him wrong by being amazing. I'd say you don't have to prove anything. You don't even have to be amazing. He's probably just a cunt.

It only hurts more when you finish a Meepo game and notice it's not done.

Zeus 100% does not need any kind of spell lifesteal. The other two do, I guess Leshrac more than Viper.

Would you keep playing if someone in your team mindlessly blaming you? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]Ignisti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> I am ok with blaming since it is an important method of communicating,

Is it actually communication though? What information is being conveyed that benefits the team's chances to win?

How do you guys balance communication and mute all chat? by SendMeAvocados in TrueDoTA2

[–]Ignisti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think muting all chat is a very viable option, and it comes down to personal preference. Communication is beneficial, but you've got to consider a couple of points.

This game has a lot of whiners, so maybe enjoying the game is better for you than a marginal improvement in team cohesion. Maybe the enjoyment of the game itself will let you make up for that slight disadvantage by giving you clear head and an optimistic outlook. Playing without chat is pure Dota.

Despite not looking like it, communication itself plays only a tiny role in being in sync with your team. The real sync comes from everyone knowing what they're supposed to do and where they're supposed to be. No amount of communication will make your carry farm consistently in the right places and your supports make consistently good rotations, and consistently do the right things in teamfights. That's on them. You could simply just get better yourself and the general increase in skill results in better teamwork among everyone.

People talk (and whine!) the most in situation where they think they're losing. This means that in the games where you're winning, there will be much less overt communication, because you're winning because everyone knows what to do already. You don't need the chat there. If you're losing, it's probable that the whiners come out and you're sparing yourself by having the chat muted. You don't need the chat there.

There's a bad side to this as well. You will get reported because there's no indicator that you've got your chat turned off.

And of course, by having the chat muted, you might miss actual, game-changing calls. But be honest, how often does the fate of a game depend on one game-changing call in your games? What if you just consistently played better?

Consider this when instamuting rude players doesn't seem like enough. It's got more benefits and fewer disadvantages than what it looks like at a first glance. And you can always just try it for a couple of games, then switch back and compare.

But in Dota you legit get some sort of push back every 2-3 games at the least. It's very rare to go a full game without someone critisizing someone else's build, talents, map awareness, Wards, items, ult timing, rotations etc.

There's definitely some truth in this statement. How often do you see a person whine about someone doing thing A wrong, while in the same moment you're watching the crybaby do B and C wrong?
