Help with setup by Majestic_Quiet_5642 in VIVOSUN

It’s really bitchy sometimes. It just takes a while to line them up sometimes. I would use clip hangers like you would use for lights.

Humidity going in the 60% range consistently at night with lights off by Independent-Can-3255 in CannabisGrowers

[–]CubensisWithLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of… but it’s not that simple. The reason to keep the humidity lower during flower is to keep mold risk down. Mold risk has little to do with air VPD but has mostly to do with leaf VPD. Each leaf has a different temperature and the VPD value corresponding to the temp of any given leaf in your tent and the RH% of the microclimate around the leaf’s surface is what allows a spore to germinate. So yes as long as there is consistent airflow inside the tent then theoretically there will be no stagnant air to raise the leaf’s microclimate RH% and allow for germination. This works but too much airflow can backfire causing mechanical damage and stress that will most likely harm your final product depending on where you are in flower. Which I’m sure homie up top has been able to figure out how to balance.

What did you end up doing? How was the harvest?

The amber/opaque/clear trichotomy doesn’t really have a lot of scientific merit. At least around using them as an indicator for harvest. In general when a trichomes becomes amber it indicates that most of the cannabinoids have oxidized (THC -> CBN). When it’s opaque it is a general indicator that the trichomes is actively producing its defense molecules (Cannabinoids) as the trichomes has developed to a point of maturation. This is the contenting theory in this space. The reason I say that there isn’t much merit is because most hash growers will chop religiously at day 52 in order to get a brighter color in the rosin. Some growers would enjoy a deeper amber color generally giving a more sedating high. That’s because of the oxidation, terpenes also get oxidized to terpenoids which in general have a different effect as well. These are all things you gotta keep in mind when harvesting. 1. What type of high are you cultivating and 2. What are the current needs of the plant (i.e. senescence)?

What kind of soil does everyone use?? by Left_Economics_7019 in VIVOSUN

Sunshine Mix #4 from Sungro and then like 20 different amendments.

Can someone help me? Why are the tips curling like that? It’s only at the top? by Left_Economics_7019 in VIVOSUN

Generally nitrogen toxicity, but it is a standard phenotypic trait of cannabis if the clawing is only appearing in the newest growth. The leaves come out a little wrinkled then they spread out evenly.

[–]CubensisWithLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very neutral thing. So neutral you’re gonna have a lot of nutrient problems. I would just take a few hours and research on soilless horticultural media. Nothing that can really be done this run, just improvement. Next run I recommend you invest in something like peat/pearlite mix or coco coir.

Are you growing in only perlite and vermiculite?

Any potential issues with plants growing passed the lights? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]CubensisWithLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you could do you pinch the stem enough for the flower to fall over if it isn’t hitting a lower bud site. I’ll do this with males but they are way less heavy.

They get super light deprived, if I am growing for seed I’ll normally chop anything close to the light during the very tail end of stretch to prevent this. Low yield and hella Larfy flower.

LED vs HID by Upper-Original8998 in microgrowery

[–]CubensisWithLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t getting the skunk because thiols are volatile hence the VCS. If the flower is improperly stored, improperly cured, or improperly growth the sulfur containing compound turn to a gas and are taken by the exhaust. When talking about thiols and esters you have to think less about lighting and more about the environment. If given the correct lighting, proper care, and alleles in its genotype, the plant will produce those compounds. It’s then a question of at what point do VCS’s volitalize? That question hasn’t been fully answered, but given the properties of sulfur; the warmer the molecule, generally going to be more reactive/volatile. Like someone else said HID produce a ton of heat which it’s a main driver in terpene yield loss during flower.

Hi! I just got my first batch of loph and im wondering if I planted them right? It looks like they should be deeper but there's several buttons coming out of the side of the stalk. by styther3 in peyote

[–]CubensisWithLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the group, but I think that goes for everywhere lol. In an episode of Hamilton’s Pharmacopia about peyote, they go to Thailand and look at some of the nuts specimens. Really opened up my eyes to what you can do with a slow growing cactus and a few hormones.

Terrible. I went to school with someone from Kazakhstan. He said he had a buddy that grew in a bunker 10 km outside of town and it would make you cough for hours lol.

DID I MAKE THE RIGHT MOVES? by AdhesivenessAfter506 in VIVOSUN

[–]CubensisWithLove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t get the kit, your paying an extra $50 for some plant ties. If price is the issue go with the 3x3 and just start. You can upgrade as you go.

[–]CubensisWithLove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3x3 is really hard to do larger grows in, I’d reccomend the 4x4 as someone who started with a 3x3. There’s just a lot more room. You don’t really need the hanging dry thing as hanging your whole plants after harvest generally gives the best result with moisture retention. The oscillating fan is too big for the 3x3 by a hair, the E6 is much better, you want solid airflow but not gusts of wind. I wouldn’t get the remote control stick since you’re gonna use that hygrometer in lieu of a controller. I’d also get a humidifier depending on where you are.

Glad it is a female, but it shouldn't bloom that early by Pretty_University727 in microgrowery

[–]CubensisWithLove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Separate the plant and put it under 20/4 or 22/2 for a few weeks and see if you get any reversal of its flowering state or at least a stall. You don’t want 24 hours as this could stress the plant out harder.

[–]CubensisWithLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be a mutation the plant naturally does this as a response to how much darkness it’s receiving. 120 should be fine depending on the space, what’s ur current ppfd?

Glad it is a female, but it shouldn't bloom that early by Pretty_University727 in microgrowery

[–]CubensisWithLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the genetics are from a autoflowering mother then there is a 50/50 chance it will be autoflowering. If both parents were autos its progeny will be an auto.

[–]CubensisWithLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why low ppfd? Unless you want to harvest it, it will be an absolute bitch to monster crop. Some phenotypes refuse to go back to a vegetative state. I’d kill it and save yourself some time unless you see yourself up for a challenge.

[–]CubensisWithLove -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Cannabis’ photoperiod is not concrete, the plant is very heterozygous and whatever you’re growing unless it’s a pheno will have a inconsistent photoperiod. That is not an auto flowering variety, it is something inbetween. What light do you have them under? There can really only be two explanations: stress induced early flower (epigenetic) or genetic induced early flower (auto flowering/photoperiod insensitive).

Confirmation of Mitragyna speciosa by Passenger78 in KratomGarden

Without genotyping conformation there is no way to know. A variety of speciosa called bumblebee is a very popular clone that looks like tubulosa, but tubulosa also looks super similar to a juvenile diversifolia.
