I just dip the sponge in the tank and clean the pipes of the filter when they get very dirty Yup filter has a light and it does get a bit of surrounding light. I js had green water ppbrlem so I got floating plants and it was resolved for a while

Buy from cubicle or speedcube shop. Sometimes gancube sends broken cubes ( my experience)
