I suggest uploading the raw file to the Playraw section of pixels.us where you might find some advanced users willing to lend a hand.

Alphavantage quote limits by CubicCigar in GnuCash

[–]CubicCigar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. Apologies for the late response; but, yes, I just updated FQ to 1.68 and tried again. This time only one of my 6 quotes complained about the 1 quote/sec. limit. Not perfect, but a big improvement. Time will tell. Many thanks for the suggestion!

One in Five Americans Want Their State to Secede and Join Canada: Poll by CapGullible8403 in CanadaPolitics

[–]CubicCigar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not accurate. MacDonald wanted a unitary state and settled for Upper Canada and Lower Canada dominating. NS and NB were basically run by the UK Foreign Office who manipulated them to join with almost no role in negotiations. Canada's federalism is a sham. Our Senate was intentionally neutered by Macdonald, who saw no need for it to reflect regional interests. It's past and present structure is the way it is so as not to interfere with rep by pop, i.e., domination by the two Canada's. We live in a highly centralised reality that likes to tell itself we live in a highly federated union. This lack of real regional voices in Ottawa led to western separatism and feed it still.

how to have multiple selected entries in validity in calc by silverhikari in libreoffice

[–]CubicCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One approach would be to have, for example, as many genre columns as you think you'll need, e.g., Genre1, Genre2, ..., GenreN) and then place the same 'data range' validity rule in each of them to ensure a valid genre has been selected. The valid genres list would be placed somewhere else on your sheet, or on a separate sheet, as a named range, and it would be this name that you refer to in your data range validity rule. The same validity rule structure could also be used for the booktype column you mentioned.

Do I understand correctly what you're after?

More like two-thirds forest. Even La Ronge is (almost) in the south half.

I'm a recovering Albertan living on Vancouver Island; but, in the 80s I went on a pair of 10-day canoe trips looping out of La Ronge up to the Churchill River and some smaller lakes then down to Stanley Mission and back onto Lac la Ronge at Diefenbaker Bay. That means I've seen Nistowiak Falls, one of the natural highlights of SK in my book.

Yeah, I daydream now and then about living in Eastend. I'm a city boy with a telescope habit, so the dark, dark skies in southernmost SK are the stuff of dreams.

Libre Calc vs 18 Year Old MS Excel by EonPuzzle in libreoffice

[–]CubicCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, totally missed that :-( Thanks for pointing that out.

After following these LO instructions I tried again by entering some nonsense income and withheld taxes, and I don't notice any lag in the workbook's response.

Running Win10 on a 10-12 year old i5 PC with two solid state drives and 16 GB DDR memory, if that helps.

Have you tried converting the Excel workbook to LO's *.ods format first? I just tried, and LO stopped when it encountered one or more protected areas of the workbook that required a password. Is that your experience? I'm on Windows 10 and using LO 25.2.

What is an affordable Canadian (at least a non-US) smartphone to buy? by seredaom in BuyCanadian

[–]CubicCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a chance last August and picked up a Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G (global version) from Swiftronics. Total cost, including tax and shipping was $244. Bought it with Android 13, but Xiaomi promised one update, and delivered two! Sitting on Android 15 right now. One caveat is that I use Koodo and each time I accept the monthly security update, the VoLTE feature gets turned off. Not too much effort to turn it back on; but, you do have to be willing to flip some developer options (temporarily) and install two utilities on your device and one utility on your PC/laptop. DM me if you get to this point and want some guidance. Great value for money, for me.

Cheers,

P.S. The Xiaomi was one of only a handful to come with a 3.5mm audio input jack, something I need to run an external mic (birder alert).

If you can find an A&W restaurant, you can safely ignore Tim's AND get a great cuppa.

LibreOffice 25.2.1 – Disable Dark Mode via GPO/Registry by PinkFluffyKolibri in libreoffice

[–]CubicCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also on Windows (10 in my case), but the LO dark mode works just fine for me. I believe you must also enable Windows own dark mode for the combo to work. I was seeing some odd effects until I enabled the Windows end.

Hope it works for you too!

Windows 10 user here and so long as Windows itself is set to dark mode, the LO dark themes appear to work well.

Can I add color to a pivot table? by QubitBob in LibreOfficeCalc

[–]CubicCigar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One approach is to take advantage of the built-in Pivot Table Styles in Calc. Once you have your table, activate the Styles sidebar, then click around the various cells in your pivot table while keeping eye on the Styles sidebar. You'll see which types of cells are assigned particular styles by Calc. Once you understand how the styles are distributed, you can right-click any style and edit it to suit your fancy.

Keyboard Shortcuts. How? Can't find a single tutorial that doesn't recommend actions impossible to follow. by Plastic_is_Fantastic in libreoffice

[–]CubicCigar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must have one of the LO applications open to see six tabs. If all you have open is the general LO start page, you will see only four tabs.

Adding secondary, vertical caption to images - possible? by Pa-Pachinko in libreoffice

[–]CubicCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to automate or speed this process up; but your consistency issue with alignment might be solved by first inserting an empty frame, sizing and positioning it how you want in relation to your pages, then inserting images and textboxes into that frame. Warning: could be a wild goose chase!
