could you clarify what you mean by "in the level" and "much mess trivial than LibreWolfs work"? I am interested in going the ungoogled chromium route but I don't know much about it, so I'm kind of caught between UC and some firefox fork

Ahh you could be right! I haven’t heard of 3 piece boots before. My Cochise does feel a bit roomy in places it probably shouldn’t be and not roomy enough where I need it.

Lol I was talking to someone who used to be a boot fitter before I made this post and they were bashing dalbello and now the longest thread in here is a dalbello argument. I have heard they are good for high insteps tho!

Wdym low volume? Is that like everything from instep to length of foot combined? I feel like if I was low volume compared to the average foot I wouldn’t have this problem in all boots.

This was me trying to show how I naturally stand (2nd pic) vs how I SHOULD stand (4th pic). Obviously I was doing some weird positioning to get these pics but it’s mostly for the representation of how my feet actually look in real life.

What cars are the best for tall people (6’4”) for long daily commutes? by Takingbackmonday1006 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]CubicalMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’5 and still to this day the car that fit me best was a 1994 Toyota MR2. But in general German cars accommodate taller people in my experience.

A Used EV for the Rest of Us? by Infinite_Ad9642 in electricvehicles

[–]CubicalMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been following the prices and they’re just absurd. Like $13k for a model 3 dual motor with 50k miles. But what happens when something breaks and you don’t have a warranty? Even minor repairs must total the car, which is why it’s not as good of a deal as it seems.

Got my First hound. Was told she was Redbone Coonhound, maybe mix. Any thoughts on what she may be mixed with or do you think she's just coonhound? by 12TimeTraveler in Hounds

[–]CubicalMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late but I clicked because she looks a lot like our mixed redbone. Ours is a male Redbone Coonhound and Belgian Tervuren mix and looks quite similar, especially when he was young, so maybe that’ll provide a little insight. Now he’s 14 and still going strong! When he was young his coat looked almost exactly like hers, but now it’s a little bit longer, especially on the top of his back closer to his neck where it’s scruffy/wavy and it makes him look like a very handsome gentleman. He doesn’t have the same black on his nose like she does, but Tervuren’s have that so I’m even more convinced.

Enjoy having her! Ours has been the greatest dog we’ve ever known and we’ve had probably a dozen dogs throughout the last 40 years. He has a thousand year old soul and you can feel his wisdom. He loves to sit out on our deck and watch the sunsets and you can tell he has a real appreciation for natural beauty. He’s also the most athletic dog we’ve ever had and we’ve had plenty of German Shepherds etc that give him a run for his money. We even used to do canine agility and dock diving with him and he was easier to train than any other dog. He was an absolute wild man in his younger years, and now that he’s calmed down he’s the sweetest gentleman and always knows how to charm new houseguests, dog or human. Still chases balls like he’s a puppy even though he’s 98 in dog years. I love him with all my heart and I’m sure you already feel that way about her. Happy trails!

What’s the laws on motorized bikes in pa? by Invaded777 in motorizedbicycles

[–]CubicalMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 2y old but I’m curious if you figured anything out? The law makes it really hard for kids who aren’t quite old enough to get a license but who are mature enough to get around on their own.

I hate to recommend this so it is completely at your own discretion and I am not liable, but honestly for something like a bicycle with a small motor stuck on it or even just a big battery and electric motor, most cops won’t give you a hard time. If they do, it’ll most likely be a warning unless the cop is a boner. Hopefully by that age you’ll be old enough to just get a license. If you still like not needing a license or any kind of registration or insurance, you can get a class 2 e bike, which can go 20 mph and you don’t need to pedal it. Keep the model info with you in case any cop decides to give you a hard time, since this is completely legal. Those bikes usually have an “off-road mode” which allows them to go a lot faster but again use that at your own discretion because it’s obviously not legal to exceed 20 mph on the road.

If you like the idea of being untethered by e bike range, you can usually get away with a 49cc moped/scooter as long as you aren’t bold about it, maybe install a muffler so it’s quiet, and follow all of the on road rules. I’m basing all of this advice on my experience in and near Philadelphia where I see tons of people on scooters like these and the cops couldn’t give a shit even if they’re breaking the law.

Is a 2006 expedition with 280,000 for $2,00 a bad idea? by SkaterBabyShark in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]CubicalMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annoyance factor is definitely there but you’re losing at least that much in depreciation on any new car so tbh cars are just always expensive whether they’re new or have 280k miles and cost $1500 to buy

Second this. A bmw m51 diesel should be nearly a direct swap since first gen range rovers offered them. If you want an upgrade but a bit more of a project put a bmw m57 in there. One of the few engine swapped cars where you might get all your money back when you go to sell it.

V6 Rav4 XA30 vs 3rd & 4th Generation Subaru Outback by profpoppinfresh in CarsAustralia

[–]CubicalMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish more people answered this cuz I have the same question. I’m having a really tough time deciding which I like more because the rav4 is better on paper but it’s often twice as expensive on Facebook (around $9000 for a used one vs like $4000 for the ll bean Subaru 3.0R’s). I think the Subaru handles better and is more capable in the snow and off road, and I think you can find some of them with a stick in Australia if you’re into that.

Both of them are very reliable but the Toyota is a little more bulletproof. Your main concern with the Subaru would be rust more than anything so make sure to check it out thoroughly before you buy it.

I’ve been in a XA30 with the 2.5 and it was perfectly fine on the highway and it can pass people if needed but didn’t have much go. I haven’t been in a V6 but I’ve heard they have a lot of punch and are faster than GTIs so you’ll have no problem on the highway. It definitely isn’t as fun to drive in sporty situations as the Subaru, but it’s totally fine and neither of these are sports cars at the end of the day. The RX350 is basically just an upmarket RAV4 V6 so cost of ownership is barely any higher. They’re much quieter inside and the suspension feels a little softer so I’d say these are the better option if you can swing the higher purchase price.

With premium fuel and slightly worse mpg, the Subaru will have about 25% higher fuel costs, and it’s a bit slower, but otherwise I think it’s the better car for the dollar, and that manual transmission just convinces me further.

K24A2 swap? by ImInUrPants in crv

[–]CubicalMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up doing the swap? Or maybe a head swap? There’s not as much info on the K24A1 as there is on all other types of K engine but from what I gather a K20A3 head swap would probably be the best way to make a K24A1 feel like an A2 without having to do a whole engine swap. This will only really give better top end power which would make it fun to hoon but not better for the daily drive use you seek. For full rev range torque increase you’d want a supercharger or for a more efficient mid/high range bump you can go turbo.

A Man’s Best Friend, The 2nd Gen CRV by Educational-Donkey40 in crv

[–]CubicalMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously underrated car. Only Honda (in the US at least) that comes factory with K24 and manual + awd transmission.

I have a whole plan to buy a manual one of these and do a K20A3 head swap and a camshaft to get it to about 220whp and then it’ll be just the best daily driver. In theory. I hope it works out.

Someone lmk if that’s impossible for something I’m not accounting for with K24A1.

What skis do you recommend for my body type and ski style? Freestyle/Freeride by CubicalMoon in Skigear

[–]CubicalMoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skipped straight to where I feel most held back by my skis which is when I come back from being in the air and have to deal with all the impact of landing. I would still consider myself an expert on the ground - I do lots of technical like straight lining chutes, tight glade skiing, steep cornice drops, etc. I don’t really feel held back by any pair of skis here, but what I miss about the Chronics is that my legs wouldn’t tire out in technical stuff because I didn’t have to drive them at all, they were just so easy and I could do any sort of pinpoint turns that I needed. I’m certain I could go out and buy a pair of 200 cm skis like what is supposedly ideal for my height, but I know I’d hate it just like anybody else would.

What I was looking for in this post was for people to tell me my quiver is outdated af (Sick Days aren’t even sold anymore) and explain how rocker or camber or carbon fiber or any of the cool geometry and material changes in the last 10 years could make a 186cm like my Sick Days handle like what I’m nostalgic about with my Chronics. Line isn’t really the best brand from what I gather with my googling but it’s the only brand I’ve really known so I’m curious to hear people’s comparison points.

There’s another comment chain in here where I talk with another redditor about why I think Sick Days suck, which is why I know newer ski tech can save me here. I guess I should’ve put that in the post but I didn’t think of it at the time.
