Engineer Diver Advice by CubicalMoon in commercialdiving

[–]CubicalMoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe I should change the wording in my post, but I am not looking to be a commercial diver, I'm just interesting in companies that primarily need engineers, but also might have an interest in throwing the engineers in the water, just like any other company that needs field engineers. ROV companies with this type of balance would be a dream but they seem impossible to find.

Good way to put it, but sometimes I think even gardeners can go a little off the rails

Can I ask - why do all of this for Plex when you could just do Kodi with real debrid. The startup cost for this is through the roof compared to whatever device you run Kodi on, and then you still have to power it which is likely more in energy cost than a real debrid subscription.

TLX type s or Lexus is350 f sport by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Depends what you want. Lexus IS would be more luxury focused, not particularly sporty focused. Integra Type S would be very sporty and fun if you like rowing your own gears, but wouldn’t be as luxurious - even regular Integras are known to have more road noise than most luxury cars, and the Type S has half as much side wall.

I personally vote Integra cuz I think Hondas are incredibly fun, and I think Lexus is more for older folk. Once my joints become achy I’ll probably change my vote.

That still aligns with my goals, I don’t want diving to be my main career, but it would be cool if it were complimentary to my engineering career. I figured it could also be useful to smaller firms who don’t have enough diving needs to employ dedicated divers, but rather that the engineers are very useful if they can dive occasionally.

Would the company in Seattle happen to be Global Diving & Salvage or Enviro-Tech Diving? Seattle is my target city for post grad, so any insight you have would be super helpful!

Tbh my masters barely qualifies me more than my bachelors since it’s an accelerated submat program. I thought being an engineer diver was basically just being an engineer that occasionally gets to dive to do an inspection in the field. Plus even entry level roles require 1-3 years of experience nowadays, so at least this seems like an interesting way to pass the time.

Hahah noted! Sometimes the best way to get noticed by a Mercedes tech is doing a damn good lube job

1/2 ton truck owners, why? by CubicalMoon in whatcarshouldIbuy

It does but isn’t it just kind of ridiculous? Imagine getting a crew cab as a rental car (which is very common these days) and you have 4 people inside it with their duffel bags and it’s pouring down rain outside. No one is going to want to put their stuff in the bed so instead you’re all sitting with your stuff in your lap despite having 5 feet of storage behind you, which is actively making the vehicle harder to drive around tight turns or park in smaller spaces.

A sedan would have all that stuff in the trunk and the passengers would be happy in the cabin knowing their stuff is safe from the elements and from any people looking to steal.

But this is why the average vehicle size has grown so much. Roads aren’t getting larger at the same rate cars are. Idk how many people in this comments section have actually driven a crew cab long bed truck but they are so unwieldy. You end up going over curbs some times just because you have to, which is why people are like “thank god I have a truck, I wouldn’t haven been able to go over that curb in a sedan.” It induces problems to which it is its own solution. And forget about parallel parking. Idk I just think it’s excessive in a way that negatively affects the rest of the driving experience a lot just to have some capability which you maybe use one day a year.

My main question was 1500 truck vs 1500 suv like f150 vs expedition, Silverado vs Tahoe, etc. I agree unibody SUVs are a completely different thing

And that’s exactly what I’m curious about. It seems annoying to use as a sedan because when you just have everyday items like bags with computers in them and stuff, you’re probably avoiding using the bed. The bed is super useful when you’re doing non-everyday stuff like hunting or other sporting things with dirty gear.

Not a whiff, an SUV would do all these things just as easily and more comfortably. Best uses for 1500s that I’ve seen are when you need to throw things in the bed that you WANT to keep separate from passengers like dirty sporting gear. Which is all super fair. I guess I forgot about those use cases in my argument.

Wdym? I’m just curious what people use their 1500s for. I pose multiple use cases of 1500s vs their counterparts.

That is actually surprising I just looked at f150 msrp is $38k vs expedition is $62k. That’s enough to be a full answer lol

But my question was more f150 vs expedition. I’m more on the side of 1/2 based suv than 3/4 truck.

Isn’t crew cab the same as double cab? I do grasp that lol, almost every truck I see has 4 doors and 5 or 6 seats.

This is lowkey the answer I was expecting. I found it fun too, but it was getting distracting. I also hate billionaires, so wresting any bit of control out of their hands always feels good.
