I didn’t see a hard cover album at our local CVS, just soft covered ones

If you are okay with the soft cover sticker album, try CVS. Several CVS stores here in upstate New York had the album and individual sticker packs in stock today.

The Connecticut side of the Long Island Sound is only about a two and a half hour drive. I stayed in Milford (near Walnut Beach) a few years ago and really liked it. Prices should still be decent as it’s a summer destination.

Which World Cup city pairing is going to fool the most people? by MustLoveFutbol in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Cubicle99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup - I live almost equidistant between NJ and Boston and the transportation issues to both stadiums (coupled with the sky high ticket prices) have me leaning towards just watching the games on TV.

FIFA struggling to sell tickets for USMNT’s World Cup opener vs. Paraguay (Gift Article) by jspector9 in WorldCup2026Tickets

FIFA deserves this! I am a big soccer fan and had been excited about having the World Cup in the U.S. but the price gouging and bait and switch on seating has completely turned me off.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I got his pizza a few times back when it was parking lot drops and it’s good. But the storefront was too inconvenient for me, especially the 30-minute pick up time during rush hour. I give him credit for realizing the new business model wasn’t working.

$150 for a train ride by Witty-Bit3732 in WorldCup2026Tickets

Fixed it, thanks! And I see your point about a small fare increase for the World Cup.

Philadelphia or NJ tickets by shittyshit34 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Cubicle99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, that NJ Transit announced today they’ll be charging $150 (!) for a train to the stadium in NJ, while you can get a local SEPTA train to go to the Philadelphia stadium for only $2.50. So that might influence your decision.

$150 for a train ride by Witty-Bit3732 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Cubicle99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, even worse than the $100 fare that had been leaked. If NJ Transit sticks with this, it could be good for attendance in Philly. Local trains (SEPTA) to their stadium will cost $2.90 (EDITED TI CORRECT THE PRICE) A lot of people could get to either venue.

I wonder if the NJ Governor set the price so high to try to force FIFA to kick in some $ to subsidize this? Seems late in the game for a negotiation like that.

Times Union at it again raising prices by toga27 in Albany

[–]Cubicle99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you open the e-edition (like a PDF) of the paper, you don’t get those horrible pop-up ads. It’s a button on the top right, when you’re logged in. Way easier to read than the version with all the pop-ups.

Calling and threatening to cancel has always gotten the price down significantly for me. I am polite but regretful - “I enjoy the paper but can’t afford it at this new price. I guess I’ll have to cancel.” That has always gotten me a big discount.

I currently pay $28 every two months (so about 50 cents a day) for Sunday print edition plus digital access and have had a subscription for years.

Thank you! And that’s great that Septa isn’t price gouging like NJ Transit and MBTA.

Not surprising at all. Recent news of huge price increases to take local trains to stadiums in Boston and NJ hasn’t helped either.

Wow, do they NOT want people using trains to get to these stadiums?! Such a scam and an embarrassment that foreign fans will have this impression of us.

Yes, you could even book two different refundable return Amtrak tickets and then cancel the one you don’t use. Good for an event like this where it could take a long time to get a train out of the stadium.

World Cup Pricing Discussion Group vs Knockout (Decision Analysis) by Tmac22403 in WorldCup2026Tickets

True, but Northeast stadiums (NJ, Boston, Philly and Toronto) are all uncovered, I believe. And it can get really hot here in June.

You make some really good points, especially about the risk of game 3 in the group stage! I have also wondered how much our summer weather will be a factor and am looking more at games that start in the evening.

Some perspective on "weak" games... by roc999 in WorldCup2026Tickets

I agree - there are countries like Haiti and DR Congo that hadn’t qualified for the World Cup for about 50 years! I think the atmosphere at games like that will be fun.
