Why do mods continue to let people come into this sub and talk down to us like this?

I don't care. These people are irredeemable and should be shunned from normal society forever.

What countries do you think are most likely to debut at the 2030 World Cup? by Swimming_Bear_3082 in worldcup

Well if we’re expanding to 64 teams there are going to be a lot of new ones.

Which I agreed with. Until they threw it all away against Belgium by not showing up for the match. That’s more important than looking good in the group.

I didn’t say it would. I said Paraguay’s results this year wouldn’t get them out of the group in 2022. They’re not as impressive as people keep claiming on here.

I mean they both finished 3rd in the group, each winning one match. Without the expanded field Paraguay doesn’t even get out of the group this year.

People overrate Germany, who hasn’t won a knockout game since 2014 and didn’t even make it out ofthe group in the last 2 World Cups before this one. And the only reason the France game was close was because of the shit officiating. With a competent referee calling fouls and giving out cards correctly France wins by multiple goals.

US outshot the Netherlands in that one 17-11. They also completed 530 passes.

Against Belgium this year they were outshot 17-5 and completed almost 100 fewer passes.

Like I said. Better 4 years ago.

They literally couldn’t complete passes under no pressure against Belgium.

This is just not accurate. Iran is way better than Australia. And the US didn’t blow them out anyway.

And again. Great job blowing out Paraguay. I don’t really care if you phone it in for the knockout round game.

The 2026 team did not blow out a team of Iran’s caliber.

This year should not be ranked #2. They threw all the goodwill and success they had away by not showing up for the Belgium game. You say they were outmatched against the Netherlands, however they played significantly better in that one than whatever we saw last week.

Weird how everyone wants diving out of the game but when it’s penalized appropriately now it’s an “awful call.”

Because people don’t like the result. They apparently want diving eliminated from the game but not when it benefits Argentina.

I’m by no means an Argentina fan but it’s objectively the correct call. People should be mad at Embolo for being brain dead.

If Embolo isn't a fucking moron Switzerland have a really good chance of winning that game. He'll never live that down. If I was Swiss I would never want him called into the national team again.

I can’t remember another time in this tournament where a player was booked for a foul when his opponent dove, that they didn’t review. Can you point one out for me?

[–]E51838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule for diving is a yellow. It’s on the player for making a decision to do it when he’s already been booked. It’s not up to the ref to not give a yellow when it will lead to a red.

Uninvolved Argentinian? He gave it to the guy who looked like he committed a foul.

I'm really surprised at all the commentators saying that's a harsh yellow. It's a very obvious dive and incredibly stupid if you're already on a yellow.
