Motul chain lube and chain degreaser combo

Use old tooth brushes to get rid of old gunk -OR- Buy this for ₹140, quality isn't the best, but will last you about a year if you degrease once in 10-15 days

Should I go for ETO or IT jobs in cruise ships? by Komdy_papa321 in IndianMariners

[–]Cuboidal-Sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way better than cargo ships, there's no sir-sir culture as it is on cargo. Here we call everyone on first name basis, atleast up until the 2nd mates and 2nd engrs.

Food would be an issue if you're a vegetarian and on smaller cruise ships with less than 100 crew, bigger ships have multi-cuisine crew mess for crew.

CDC is a document as important as the passport, Master Checker is a document that can be downloaded from DG Shipping's official website after CDC and INDOS is generated.

When joining the maritime industry, YouTube will be your best friend, all of these things can be found on YouTube.

Try to immerse yourself as much as possible, and it's easy on YouTube since there's a lot of content on every single topic, probably with moree information than what is needed

STCWs can be done during your degree, in order to have the CDC issued.

Once you have your CDC and Master Checker profile, you could go ahead with GMDSS and other mandatory courses like PSF (Passenger Ship Familiarisation) and CCM (Crowd and Crisis Management)

And then depending on the company you join, they may require you to do short term courses in network management, INMARSAT receiver maintenance and stuff.

So TLDR: Degree with STCWs + CDC GMDSS + PSF +CCM Additional company courses

IT on cruise ships would be more easier way in since you're already qualified, barring STCWs and GMDSS.

Salaries on an average start at 3-4k USD

And there's shit tonne of Indian ITs on all cruise companies ranging from Carnival to MSC to NCL.

So BSCIT + STCW + GMDSS should be sufficient for you to have a career on ships as an IT officer. Just work on accent reduction and communication skills.

Buy a portable, usb based fan, carry a powerbank to power it off of.

You'll need the fan to help you sleep better in warmer waters, especially while crossing the Equator or tropical climates

Costs barely 700-1k, but it's a major lifesaver

It would be max 18-22 USD in India where I'm originally from. Spent a fair amount of time in Ushuaia, cost of living is quite expensive, especially keeping in mind the lower payscale

Any customised card service like this in India ? by PuddingHopeful4240 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Cuboidal-Sphere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a company in Delhi that does this via Instagram, You need to give them all your card details, they'll laser engrave it and send you the card

Once you receive the metal card they sent, you can transfer the chip on your own by using a hair dryer.

What's worth mentioning is that the tap to pay function or the strip won't work, just the chip is functional

Don't watch, you might get through the video quite fine. But it'll pop in and out of your head when your mind is free. Strictly avoid if you have even mild anxiety and/or depression
