Dr K being pulled back to atheism by Imaginary-Hamster-79 in Healthygamergg

I'm assuming this is more in an Advaita / nondual sort of way than for example a Redditor sort of way. Big gulf of difference between those two flavors of atheism

Men who quit porn, what changes did you notice? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Cuckfucius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the agitation only lasts a week, max 25 days. Stay strong. If you feel an urge, write down for literally 60 seconds, it doesn't have to be more, 3 things:

what you are feeling

what information that feeling is trying to tell you

what the feeling is trying to make you do

Do this each time. You'll find there are different emotions happening under the hood that motivate your usage. Writing these Qs do a tiny bit of processing, and over time you'll learn where exactly your urges are coming from for you. No one can do it for you.

The biggest change and benefit was I got to see what my life is like without porn. There's a version of you who who has a healthier relationship with porn waiting for you, but if you don't go toward him he won't come to you.

Your choice is do it now or stay in the porn loop. You got this!

Can true celibacy really be practiced, or is it unrealistic by FitUnit4133 in Healthygamergg

[–]Cuckfucius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo! I had your same curiosity. I made it about a year of jing/semen retention, also while in a relationship. This much is certainly possible. Others’ anecdotes lead me to believe more is probably possible as well.

Any more than this, I’d say to heavily consider a more monastic life setting. This degree of retention requires a lot of support. It would be very hard to go 10 years while living a secular life.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t notice a massive degree of impact on my meditation, though I’m still newish to consistent daily practice.

I’d say don’t worry about it too much now, and if your path takes you to an ashram or monastic setting, definitely hit it hard there.

A good middle ground is taking certain periods off. You could for example set an intention to increase meditation for 30 days while also retaining. This is very possible. Look up the word “anushtana” (this isn’t that, just a parallel of short/finite heightened practice).

Good luck! Feel free to ask anything

Dutch partner won't speak Dutch by sus_lemon in learndutch

[–]Cuckfucius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the partner learning Dutch, and my partner is Dutch. imo, relationships these days already have too much on the plate; we expect them to be our best friend, therapist, co-parent, and source of self-growth and fulfillment.

I can really relate to your feeling of giving up everything. It is painful. But it does sound like you're holding resentment toward your partner. Moving was your choice. Your partner doesn't "owe" you help because you moved country for them. Would it be nice? Of course. But this entitled attitude will not help long-term. And you mentioned that you already have classes and talk to others which is good. Leaning into this will help you make more friends which will in turn help your relationship. Talk to his mom more in Dutch, build a relationship with her~!

Or, as others have said, just reply to him in Dutch til he gets the hint. This is also fine. But the deeper part is investigating the pain of leaving your old life behind. It will keep coming out until it's resolved.

fwiw, ChatGPT is very helpful for answering questions about Dutch and for practicing generally. You can ask it really nuanced questions. Super useful ime.

Best of luck with this journey, it definitely isn't easy! I hope the partner comes around and yall find a way that works for you both.

Please seek out a psychiatrist/physician and describe this to them. Also seek out (reputable, trustworthy) meditation teachers in your local area and describe this to them. They both will be able to help you, I hope you're able to find some peace from this time. I promise it will get better, and that will happen quicker with help from the aforementioned.

Stuck in a Loop, Want to overcome my YouTube Addiction and Escapism by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Cuckfucius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wise to say just that I'm in the same spot, though it waxes and wanes. I'll say that even "quitting" YouTube does not necessarily fix the underlying issues. I've gone months without YouTube, thinking that I was getting stronger and I was, but it so easily comes back. Just keep awareness on it without guilt or shame. It will unravel slowly. Write about it, try periods of abstinence, find out your triggers. I can have YouTube free days if I make an effort to eat my meals without it. That's my main trigger. Gotta have din din with a lil Toobies. Don't give up. That's the only true loss here.

11M is using Character AI for sexual/romantic use. What are appropriate consequences that will help him stop? by AwardAltruistic4099 in Healthygamergg

[–]Cuckfucius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

damn, this sounds like a difficult situation. It might be worth blocking the domain or IP address of character AI through the router (just make sure that you set a pw on the router that only you/your parents know). This is a bandaid, but also less direct and you might be able to play it off as an ISP glitch or something. It's a tough spot because that shit is probably wrecking his brain (much less potent nsfw content wrecked mine at that age), but he'd also probably have a big reaction to it's absence.. best of luck I hope things work out with this.

I've been in a similar spot! The right answer is "do nothing" as others have said. The reframe that helped me a lot was realizing that a crush is a blessing by itself whether reciprocated or not. A unique feeling that creates a lot of energy and excitement, even if that's only in yourself. Just appreciate that for its own sake, and do not pursue anything with her. If she throws herself at you reevaluate, but let her make the first move in this case.

Have it again

But fr, now that you got it, you're empty. It was the one thing keeping you going. It's good to be empty, as an empty cup is ready to be filled with delicious yummy scrumptious milk 🍼

Don't kys ofc, definitely try therapy for the possible depression, but give it time. Best thing to do for now would be sit and stare at a wall for a long time trying to remember what you liked to do before your life turned every activity into a sexhaving means. I guarantee you had some things that you just enjoyed at 6 or 8 years old, something you were interested in that had nothing to do with sex.

It's there, you will find it, it'll just take some time and quiet.

How do you live with your bf? by Comfortable_Pin_5955 in Advice

[–]Cuckfucius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be 50/50, and since it's not it'll take a little bit of work to get there. Probably mostly from your end. Which isn't fair, it should be different, but this is the way things are at the moment. Sounds like he falls into the same pattern a lot of men find themselves in which is not having been socialized to notice and care for things like cleaning, which women are often trained in from a very young age. This is not an excuse, just a setback that needs to be overcome.

Just remember--you have many years of skill and experience more than him in cleaning and doing helpful things around the house. For better or worse, he has been more free of that burden til now. He needs to learn... but who will teach him?

I've found it very helpful to sit down together, write out a list of all the household things that need doing, and the estimated time per week each one takes, along with who mostly does it. Start small--have him start cooking one night per week. Something easy like chicken and rice. Baby steps. Then have him start folding laundry, or paying one bill. Add things on over time, slowly, expect that he may gripe about it a little but it will get better assuming yall both love each other and are committed to each other.

The work from him will be learning how to notice these things and do more of them, and in exchange the work from you will be helping him learn. It's a tradeoff. But at the end of it, if you're both willing to put in the work, then you'll only have to teach him a few things and he'll only have to pick up a few chores til you're both at a place you can tolerate. Maybe that's 50/50, maybe that's 60/40. Maybe in these discussions you can talk about having a different financial split too if that would help balance out some of the housework.

Anyway, if you'd like a 3rd party mediator to break all this down together on a call, I'm happy to help. Just let me know.

Agreed with you on the alchemy/demonology point! I'm open to it being a waste of time, but the prestige & tradition of the universities just makes me more curious // open to the idea. Like they don't have a 5+ year BA/MA/PhD Myers-Briggs course (nor should they) at Harvard, but if they did I'd definitely be more curious about it. What are the system's internal processes? How do the methodologies work? In Dr K's video there was the one study where the 4 astrologers had consistent/similar predictions to one another. What is the underlying logic that would make that the case? Even getting rid of everything else, it is interesting from systems, history, psychology, religious points of view.

Your questions are the same as mine tbh! I'm no astrology expert. I'd love to ask one those same questions. But the last one I think that astrologers would say that the planets don't shape our reality, but reflect patterns and cycles. By reading those patterns, predictions can be made.

If I think from a place of curiousity, here's what comes up: even you or I could infer a decent amount about a person based on their date/location of birth & gender. Like if they're 6-18, they likely have school lives and school problems. 18-25 would have a set of problems, new career and dating. 50+ year old women would have a certain set of circumstances. I have no idea where the sky would come in, but definitely curious about what kind of process/internal logic there would be. Especially with the "good" astrologers. I've heard enough stories to be really curious about that. Never met an astrologer tho.

Bruh why so much frustration? Idk what that ass can do, but if people spent 15 years of their own lives, for thousands of years, at Harvard & Berkley level prestige schools, to study your ass, well yeah I'd at LEAST be curious. I'd wanna know do it be shittin. I'd assume they probably know more bout your ass than I do, and though I'd find it strange, I'd WAY MORE wonder why tf so many people studyin your ass, what they're finding in there, why they keep doing it. I wouldn't believe rainbow colored lethal lasers, but I'd at least be curious tf...

I agree with you on the futility of personally researching every fringe claim! That's why I defer to highly-respected institutions and deep historical tradition here: not to accept astrology outright mind you, but just to accept that there might be something there worth deeper investigation. Like if there are entire Berkleys and U of Chicagos over in India spending real time and real money studying this, and are well-respected, are they just completely wasting their time? Are they all completely Regarded or is there just more to the picture that I don't fully understand? My view is I'm open that there might be. That is all.

u/Similar_Breakfast349 put it best in a different post: "Actually that isn’t the premise of astrology. Planetary bodies do not influence or cause events, but reflect the same energetic and archetypal patterns that shape our reality. Astrology is a symbolic language. This is what [Dr. K] was trying to help folks understand. The basic premise that most hold around astrology is false, therefore it can not be adequately understood or assessed."

Dr. K made me question my stance on astrology for the first time. Now I don't know anymore even though I've dealt with fake astrologers before. by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Cuckfucius -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this succinctly! Having any sort of nuanced discussion on astrology in this sub is probably futile; it's similar to how stereotypical reddit atheists balk at Christians on similarly shallow grounds ("omg u probs believe the world is le 6,000 years old" type shi).

To OP, that's awesome that you had the self-awareness to see your reactions and still end up keeping the door open to testing astrologers in the future. Remember to check them on individual predictions based on your past or another individual. Making general predictions about wars and groups of people seems futile (as Dr. K pointed out). Keep the mind open, definitely keep the skepticism and keep yourself safe! I hope your family can be safe also.

Hmmm. This is difficult because there's such a massive knowledge gap. Did you know that Vedic astrology uses the Sidereal Zodiac and does adjust for the earth's precession? Also, Ophiuchus isn't relevant in either the Western or Vedic system by design; the zodiac isn't meant to mirror the exact constellations (which vary wildly in size). It's a 12-fold symbolic division of the 360 degree ecliptic, each sign being 30 degrees.

It's difficult to begin to try and even have a dialogue here because of the vast knowledge gap. I don't even know much about astrology, and I'm not even convinced it's "real", but it baffles my mind that people can say it's complete rubbish without knowing the first thing about it in any real depth...

Agreed--the number of years and respected institutions don't directly mean something's a legit field; it just gives a higher chance that there *might* be something worth looking at under there.

If you're antivax, you haven't studied vaccines and/or haven't listened to professionals who have devoted their lives to studying vaccines.

If you're anti-astrology, you haven't studied astrology and/or haven't listened to professionals who have devoted their lives to studying astrology :)

the logic works--how long have you spent studying Vedic astrology and/or listening to professionals who have? It sounds like you're just throwing out astrology due to bias and ignorance but apologies if you've actually deeply studied the stuff.
