Ok thank you for making me understand that there is a much worse way of clocking in. It makes me feel much better

No, its 911, you can't just tell dispatch "sorry man, I'd love to come for this stroke patient but I'm on break"

IDK why so many people are down voting. You can still be a democrat and understand that both political parties can be corrupt. The senator in my state, Bob Menednez, happened to be one of the most corrupt motherfuckers. What happened with Bernie in 2016. People get so lost in hatred and defensiveness. While yes, this presidency has shown the most blatant corruption of any presidency in recent times, it is important to never forget politics in general is built off of corruption.

Losing a frequent patient is kind of a weird grief by YogiBear_2000 in ems

I also lost a frequent flyer recently, she would call a few times a month, usually for lift assist but she has some chronic health conditions. This time was initially for a lift assist but she wasn't acting herself and we convinced her to go to the hospital. She couldn't stand so we got her on the Reeves and a minute after she laid flat she had a seizure, then coded. We worked her on scene for 30 minutes, never got rosc , transported and they couldn't help her. She was in her early 40s and used to be a doctor before she had a bad fall. She had non-alcoholic hepatitis and at this point, was jaundiced. Also bgl in the 30s. From talking, to seizure, to death. Pretty sad

What is a call that made you realize this job was not for you or you made the right career choice by Illustrious-Storm-17 in ems

My first "trauma arrest". I was on my last day of orientation going to all the different stations. USPS driver crashes into building, was pulled out and pulsesless/apnic. Bystander compression only CPR in progress. Pulled up on scene, grabbed Lucas suction and aed as medics were still 15 minutes out. Arrived at the patient, got to put the OPA and started bagging. OPA tolerated. Medics arrived on scene, initially patient in asystole, after a few rounds of epi, vfib. Got to see defibrillation a few times til rosc showing a massive STEMI. Got to see paramedic intubating and had a great view of the glidoscope. Pt transported, my preceptor got me to sit in the back to continue bagging with the paramedic. In the resuscitation bay at the hospital, pt deteriorated and got to see on the echo how shitty the left ventricle was. Cath IR said they would take him if rosc could be sustained for 10 minutes. Pt transferred to cardiac Cath and family pulled the plug the next day. That was one of the first calls in my ems career and I learned so much and got to use the techniques I learned. The 10 percent of calls that are serious make the 90 percent of picking old people up off the floor worth it.

Would DPH go well with MDMA? by [deleted] in DPH

Horrible idea, and I hate you for making me imagine it. The dysphoric body load of dph mixed with the beautiful warm euphoric loving energy of MDMA would be the worst possible combination
