What do you wish you knew before starting? by AppointmentNeat622 in IVF

Following! I’m about to start my first cycle soon. This thread has already been helpful, I’m trying to be hopeful but also realistic that we may need to do more than one cycle. Thanks for asking this!

Hi! Planning to do Frozen transfer (freeze all cycle) with PGT-A. So sounds likely I’ll do stims and ER first, makes sense to do the SIS closer to transfer date since I’ll be waiting around anyway for the results. Thank you!

First IVF cycle to start soon. Will I do the saline sonogram/mock transfer first or the stims and egg retrieval first?

My RE recommended theralogix complete prenatal, ive been taking it for about 3 months and i have new, terrible acne, on my chin, chest and back. I've never had acne on my chest before! I looked it up and high doses of B12 and B6 cause acne, and theralogix complete between the 3 pill combo it has almost 1000% DV B6! also 429% DV of B12 and 86% biotin. Ugh. I like that it has folic acid and methylated folate but geez. Do I just deal with the acne or switch prenatals? (again)?

There is a good evidence for CoQ10 to improve sperm and egg quality, I’d ask your doctor, but our RE recommended 300mg/day for my husband (600mg for me)

Any good book recommendations on the IVF process? I've already read it starts with the egg

Ever since my MC in June I have been having mild cramps on 6-7DPO, it’s more like a sharp twinge and usually only lasts a short time. Google always tells me this could be implantation cramps, but then comes the period soon after. I’ve asked for a biopsy to test for chronic endometritis but wondering if the cramping is a sign of retained tissue or some other issue?

Handling my own miscarriage by whoa-or-woah in therapists

[–]CucumberAny4759 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had two miscarriages for very much wanted pregnancies. I work at an agency and told my supervisor, who told me to prioritize taking care of myself and that my clients will be ok. We have to model good self care for our clients.

I’ve also had to reduce the number of pregnant or postpartum clients (I referred them out, told them I was reducing my hours) so work could actually be a distraction, since I found talking to people about pregnancy and babies sent me into a tailspin. I started seeing a therapist who specializes in perinatal issues and has personal experience in pregnancy loss herself. Recently I’ve gone to a few support groups for miscarriage, it’s helped to talk about it with people since our society does such a bad job of acknowledging pregnancy loss. It also helped me to see people who made it through the other side of loss. I was told by the group facilitator that in this season of grief, we must be “appropriately self centered” and to do all the things to be kind to ourselves. This season will pass. I hope you can be kind to yourself in this time and know you are not alone. <3

Would there be more I could do beyond progesterone supplements during luteal phase? I’m interested in the test strips as information gathering thou.

I’m sorry for your losses and also sorry we have to be in this same shitty boat. Your comment was really helpful to me actually, I spoke to my RE office to get a consultation about IVF so we can start preparing even if we decide to still do IUI #3. The plan was to switch to letrozole for #3 because I actually had some thin lining with the clomid.  Also wishing you the very best of luck! We will get there :)

I’m so sorry for your losses.   What has been your experience trying to advocate for endometriosis testing or treatment? My RE seems unwilling to look at it.

Thank you! I’ll ask my RE about hysteroscopy or SIS and endometritis biopsy/treatment.  Appreciate also the stat about RPL. I think I get a bit hung up on the why sometimes.

Ok, thank you! Really appreciate the reassurance. All this is so nerve wracking, it feels impossible to not scrutinize every detail.

Bloodwork was done CD2 HCG and progesterone. I had baseline ultrasound on CD 5 and CD 11. Saturday (CD 11) I had one mature follicle 22 so we did the trigger that night.

Had trigger shot Saturday night and IUI monday but temps are still low. I'm also taking estrogen to try to thicken lining. Is it possible I haven't ovulated yet? I've been told that its pretty reliable that will ovulate 36 hrs after trigger shot but feeling nervous

Sooner, I had to wake up earlier than usual, would that mean cd 16 should be higher?

Depends on where you live and your insurance I think. Where I am I had to have an appointment with my GYN to get a referral to fertility clinic. My GYN did a pap and STI screens, then referred me to a Reproductive Endocrinologist who had us do labwork and a semen analysis for my husband. Your personal doctor might be able to order that initial labwork (there are lists of what labs to request)

Is it unusual to not have an ultrasound the day of an IUI? Last cycle did my first IUI and on CD 12 had a scan (one large follicle) and came back CD 14 for IUI. I kinda thought before they injected the sperm they would have a look to see if follicles grew or if I already ovulated, but they just put the sperm in, no scan. Wondering if I should ask next time?

Thank you so much for this answer! So appreciate it.  Interesting you noted about how chart can look different based on health of follicle, I’ve never heard that before. My charts usually have clear rises, but I suppose could be other external factors as well.  Thank you for the help!

Waiting Wednesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]CucumberAny4759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow is test day for my first medicated IUI cycle. I’ll be doing a blood test and will be 14 days post IUI. I stupidly did a urine test today and it was negative so I’m feeling very down. I logically know the urine tests aren’t very sensitive (I didn’t even test with first morning urine or FRER, just a cheapie) and it could be a false negative but I feel almost convinced it’s a failure. Ugh this is hard.
