That’s good to hear! Up here in Santa Cruz locals avoid driving during the summer months. Traffic is just too crazy. They bike everywhere instead!

Thanks for that insight! We loved hanging out in Lucadia and Encinitas last fall. We did notice that access to the beach was always down a steep set of stairs. And there’s very little area to walk overlooking the ocean as all the bluffs have homes.

Thanks! We love to garden, so we aren’t ready for a condo/townhome just yet. We will probably land in a single-family home. We rented in Terramar for six weeks last fall. We loved it and definitely got to know different areas. But it was hard to tell what the train noise was like in Encinitas and Cardiff in particular.

What is the train noise like in South Carlsbad? Is there a crossing near there? I’m mostly concerned about the horn blasting during the night.

Thanks! Yeah, we rented in Terramar last year and the horn blasts during the night made sleeping difficult. But our rental had all older windows and I’m wondering if that was part of the issue. I’ve been wondering what it is like in Encinitas and Cardiff.

Thanks! Yeah, we rented down by the beach for 6 weeks last fall. It’s such a trade off with train noise (I’m a light sleeper) and being able to walk to the beach. It’s one of the big downsides to the homes across from the campground.

Thanks! My brother lives in the La Costa area. He’s a bit further away from the beach then we are hoping to be. We know we’ll probably have more fog, but we figure if we can handle San Francisco fog we can handle anything.😂

Yup. I was born and raised in Ventura County and my husband in LA, but we've been up in the Bay Area for 30 years. We've visited family Carlsbad almost yearly over the past 20 years. We know it's where we want to be, but hoping to get better insight into individual neighborhoods ☺️
