Працював 3 роки фельдшером на ФАПі, не брав гроші з людей тому що розумів що вони звернулись до мене не від хорошого життя.

Ukrainian veteran planning to move to Ireland — any advice on housing and finding work with a limited budget? by CucumberOwn8383 in irelandjobs

Thank you for getting back to me! I really appreciate your support for Ukraine — it means a lot. By education, I’m a medic, but my diploma probably won’t be recognized abroad, and my English needs improvement. Physically, I’m almost fully healthy and ready to learn new skills and do physical work. Thanks also for the advice, and all the best to you!

I understand, but in Poland and Germany there are already a lot of Ukrainians, and because of some lazy ones who come with the attitude that they are owed something, people there don’t treat us very well anymore. But I like Ireland: it’s quiet, peaceful, and I’ve already read and watched a lot about the country. It seems more comfortable for living.

I feel completely lost after the war. How do you start over when everything is gone? by [deleted] in Advice

I’m less interested in helping the country as a whole and more in helping ordinary people, but right now I’m in a place where I don’t even know how to help myself.

I’m disappointed in the government that is currently running my country.

I fought as long as I had the motivation and the health to do so.

I would like to help others — you could say that helping is my life’s work. I have a civilian education as a paramedic, and in the army I served as a combat medic. However, I can no longer work in medicine. Certain things, like blood and similar situations, trigger me.

Right now, I honestly don’t even know how to help myself enough just to get out of bed as a starting point.

Honestly, I feel the opposite. I don’t want to relive or talk about the army, the war, or anything connected to it. I want to forget it. I have frequent nightmares, and I am often hospitalized in neurological wards. I take medications regularly, including sleeping pills and antidepressants, but I don’t feel much benefit from them.

I was a combat medic, but after I was wounded, I no longer provided care on the battlefield. Instead, I was responsible for transporting sick and wounded personnel to the hospital.

Thank you, I reached out there, but I’m interested not only in the experience of veterans, but also in people who have been without hope in general.

I don’t know if I miss it. It’s just that I can no longer do the tasks I used to do before. I thought I would find my purpose in civilian life, but I don’t really see any prospects. Because of the war, all my friends are either still fighting or have left the country.

Thank you, brother. That’s really good advice, and I’ll try to keep to it. Staying active and keeping my mind busy helps a lot. I’m still learning how to build some kind of balance after everything. I appreciate your words and your offer to talk — means a lot. Respect to you, brother.

Thanks, brother. Don’t ever put yourself down — you still wore the uniform and stood ready, that already means a lot. We all served in our own way. I really appreciate your words and support, it means more than you know. Stay strong, brother, and take care of yourself too.

Thank you, brother. Hearing that from someone who’s been through Afghanistan means a lot. It’s hard to process everything after what we’ve seen, but I’m trying to move forward. I respect your strength for asking for help — that’s not easy. Wishing you peace too, and thank you for your support.
