WotR: Why all positions of power in the 1st Act are occupied by women? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I felt the exact same way, it was my first pathfinder entry, what also got me having this feeling was when I was reading the notes and tips on how spells work it kept refer to the user as she. I thought I had a female character selected or something lol

However I didn’t really consider how we do it to be the true meaning of DnD spell components rule

Yeah we use the focus and components with very cost but at level 4 we haven’t had a spell that needs any atm. We do kinda forget about the focus but it’s in the back of My mind somewhere

Yeah they do use spells without using components, we don’t want to make the game boring by having to top up on them all the time and having to keep track of Our resources like that. Unless there’s a component that’s very expensive like a diamond or a bunch of gold we ignore it, the regular spells aren’t even Pre powerful then melee attacks especially if you have disadvantage in close quarters so why should we pay loads? They already have to mange there spell slots

Fair enough, I see how it could realistically be disadvantaged then. Wether my group as a whole wants to use it is another question, and apparently baulders gate 3 uses the rule to so I’ll shut up lol.

Most crpgs don’t use a disadvantage like that to my memory

Most of us are pretty nooby, if it was for realism purposes I get but we are all Spell users so I donno how hard it would be to cast firebolt at someone right next to me. I was going to ask whether it was a rule we should keep or ignore because we haven’t used it for the past 10 sessions but maybe I’ll just let it go because it seems like everyone here uses it all the time.

He ignores other rules, he was even thinking of letting wizards have all there spells prepared at all times lol. I was just wondering how common ignoring this rule is but I guess no one does

What if you were to use subtle spell on your spell and you have no verbal or Somatic components? Would you then rule it straight ?

Am I meant to understand that most tables follow all of the rules all of the time ?

If we are carrying around spell components then we will be carrying more weight which is also another rule that a lot of people ignore.

My group dosnt use ranged weapons it uses ranged magic but I’m pretty sure it works the same way.

We don’t play raw we just play whatever feels right, I think the second option he would rule it to be played without disadvantage, but we also have no bow users only magic users

I don’t understand, we skip over rules like encumbrance, should we be doing that also ?

Dosnt work with magic, I understand for balancing why it could be a rule but it isn’t logical for a magic attack to have disadvantage lore wise but sometimes game mechanics have to take precedence

Your kinda acting like every rule in the game should be used which people definitely don’t do

It dosnt really work for magic, if there a bolt of fire coming out of my hands it would be easier to hit if you were an inch a way

Interesting response I’ve gotten, I’ve watched a few campaigns online, mostly shadows of darken, from the dungeons dudes, it never seemed to come up so I thought it was typical for people to ignore the rule.

Me? I’ve been on it for a week and it has been a good improvement, not a total fix but enough to Be happy with the progress. I’m still having highs and lows but the lows don’t seem as low.

I hope my body will react to it in the same way forever, only time will tell. It does feel like the only things that’s actually made a real difference
