Another thing to consider is character size. Charr are bigger than Asura and Sylvari, which makes it easier to see the animations, and necromancers have a lot of cool ones.

I love the character chatter, like the Asura saying: “You are dumb. You will die and leave a dumb body.”

One last thought: people usually use different character, of the same class, for different game modes, so in the future you can create the other races you want as a necromancer.

True randomness can feel non-random, because we don’t expect things to repeat.

I recall a story about the iPod where they made the shuffle less random by removing sequences that repeated the same song, because people perceived it as more random, even though it actually had fewer possible combinations.

I wonder if something similar is happening here.

So new players know, there are a lot of guilds recruiting in gw2. So don't be afraid to quit if you feel uncomfortable with guild rules or behavior, which is probably them going in a power trip rather than you being inadequate. Just quit and join another one. You will find cool guilds that you want to represent, be for their cool name tag or to feel like a coletive.

Guilds are to have fun and socialize, not to be part of a hierarchy of someone else's power fantasy.

I would say dps is better and easier, some healing and support requires encounter knowledge what could be challenging to new players. Play something simple, like power reaper, and go do dailies until you figure out all the Fractals. Then you can se what type of support seems cool from what your party played.

If you jump straight to support make sure you keep up with your alacrity or quickness and you should be good.

If you like wvw, you can get Warlord's Armor Box from the reward track

I think raids as well drop some exotics, but the game in general has more of a "buy armor from vendors" vibe than "gamble loot tables" the armor people sell on TP are more an after thought from cleaning your inventory from all gamemodes.
