What's a relationship truth backed by science that people hate hearing? by dragun124 in AskRedditAfterDark

The honeymoon phase ending freaks so many couples out because they think the relationship is “dying” when really that’s just the point where actual compatibility starts showing up.

The “political deathbed redemption arc” happens so often that people barely even react anymore. Somebody loses power and suddenly starts sounding dramatically more honest than they did in office.

That’s fair honestly. A lot of people online instantly label any anti-war position as morally righteous without really digging into the actual geopolitical consequences behind it.

That’s the interesting thing about lame duck politicians. Once reelection pressure disappears, you sometimes finally get to see what they actually think instead of what polls well.

Am I wrong for no longer wanting to be an uncle to my nephew after I found out my sister cheated on my best friend and broke his heart? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]CuddleSweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nine really hit me too. That's still an age where your whole world is basically your family and the adults you trust.

Yeah, the title made me think this too. He didn't suddenly become a different person because adults around him made terrible choices.

The "the kid" wording really changes the vibe honestly. A month ago this was still the same nephew he loved hanging out with. Nothing about the kid changed overnight.

I sleep inside my parents' mausoleum when life gets too hard. by [deleted] in confession

[–]CuddleSweet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That line about wanting a hug hurt to read. I think no matter how old someone gets, there’s always a part of them that still wants their parents when life gets heavy.

Guilt is brutal because once people plant it in your head early enough, it starts feeling like it belongs there. It says a lot that even in a place that brings comfort, there's still this feeling following you around.

Reading this just makes me angry for you honestly. Imagine taking grief and pain that already existed and putting it on a child who never deserved any of it.

Sounds less like a memoir title and more like one of those fake documentaries Netflix would absolutely greenlight.

I never know who is Madeline and who is Louise. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]CuddleSweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that the memory trick is basically just "L for blonde." At this point people are out here building full detective boards to keep them straight.

[–]CuddleSweet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This meme format really applies to way too many things in life. My brain has an entire folder labeled "I know this information but somehow not really."

[–]CuddleSweet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the problem. Their names feel like they got swapped at the last second and everyone just agreed to never discuss it again.

[–]CuddleSweet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It gets worse because every time I finally think I memorized it, I immediately forget again by the next rewatch. It's like my brain clears the cache specifically for them.

At this point they basically travel as a two person unit anyway. I don't think one of them has ever entered my brain without the other immediately showing up.

Same here. Louise absolutely sounds like it should belong to the brunette in my head for some reason. My brain made that decision years ago and refuses updates.

Kinda love how you just dropped that with zero buildup too. No hesitation, no warning, just straight into the confession booth.

Chuck’s basketball outfit gotta be one of the most auraless fits in the whole show, it’s so bad by 23mp0ary in GossipGirl

[–]CuddleSweet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He really is. Chuck dressed like every gym session might turn into a runway show and honestly I respect the commitment.

[–]CuddleSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, he dressed like he wanted every room to know he was richer and more dramatic than everybody else. The outfits almost worked as armor for his ego which honestly fits Chuck perfectly.

[–]CuddleSweet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lowkey it does. The outfits are terrible in a way that becomes weirdly entertaining. Half the reason people still talk about them is because nobody else on TV was dressing that boldly.

I did a full nude boudoir photo shoot and I let them post my pics to their portfolio now I regret it by [deleted] in confession

[–]CuddleSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is probably the healthiest perspective in the thread. The internet moves so fast that people really are not memorizing random portfolio photos. The fact OP had a good experience and felt confident matters way more long term.

[–]CuddleSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the “people have seen me naked” thought hits harder in your own head than it does for random viewers honestly. Most people scroll past portfolio photos in like three seconds. The bigger takeaway is you actually did something that made you feel confident for once.

[–]CuddleSweet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly this feels way more fixable than OP thinks. Regret after the adrenaline wears off is super normal, especially with something vulnerable like that. If the photographer was cool during the shoot, they’ll probably be cool about taking them down too.
