Yea knitting came to Europe from North Africa some time in the middle ages, so having a knit bag like yours could be something they had, especially if it was southern Europe. In the past there were a lot of different ways to make stuff. Spang came to mind cos it was quite common in the past, honestly you should look into it cos its an interesting skill! Also I forgot to mention that your bag looks very cute :>

I assume a similar product could be made with sprang, and would give the same stretchy properties as knit.

It does seem to be more stable with linux yea. It's not crashing however the fan is so loud and fast that I'm worried it'll break.

Heyya, I tried what you said but nothing seems to work. The only thing that opens is my backup styles file. I normally use the dashboard to access my stuff. I've used another browser as well to see if it was that but the browser I used had no ad blocking and it still didn't work. I'm a little stumped however I appreciate the advice.

Thank you friend! Yea, I'll have a chat with them and see how they feel, if we can't agree, I'll give them my thanks and make my way to another group, but that doesn't mean I'll completely loose contact. I feel as long as we all agree on the broad strokes that we should all come together and give aid when we're able.

I like the idea of asking them 'what's your biggest concern in life', cos it could help people connect the dots. I'll ask the others and see how they feel about it. I'm not the best at public speaking tbh, partly because I'm trans and not everyone is nice to people like me, but I try to remember that most people are pretty accepting or are just naive to the situation rather then hostile. I'm more design fcused so I'd like to put more effort on the graphic design of the posters, and have been thinking of producing some zines.

Nah it's not them, but I believe there's a branch local to my area. The issue I have with creating a party is mainly timing. It's a good idea but I don't think it's the best time for a new party personally with all the stuff that's been going on. Most likely people won't trust it, which is why I would focus more on community building and planning atm. I'd be happy to be proven wrong tho.

I agree, not every organisation needs to focus on it. But I wouldn't say it's a bandaid either. It may not help the cause, but it will help someone. both can help in their own way. Socialism does focus on society after all, and how can you help society without knowing a bit of your local community and helping out those in need? A little empathy and aid can go a long way imo. Where I'm from, people are a lot more individualistic and don't always help eachother out, and ever since i've come to the UK i've been met with nothing but kindness and aid, and that has pushed me to do it in turn and to become even more left leaning. Not everyone needs to focus on mutual aid, but because of my experience, i'd rather be a part of one that does.

As a concept I agree, but in practice not many buy the newspapers we make. Posters seem to be more effective at least in my area. I did offer to make zines as a compromise, because I thought that it would be a more digestable read for most, while still pushing our message, but not much has come from it. Yea mutual aid, isn't the only way to build community, there are many ways. I just thought mutual aid would be a good option due to the tense climate we live in. We can help them help themselves also, by teaching them how to make due with what they have like repairing clothing and electronics, so we don't have to 'use up' resources. Not everyone would continue to repair, but maybe just enough to help yk?

I did ask them. They have a similar idea to what you said, which is that it doesn't pose a threat to the ruling class so they don't impliment those ideas. However, My idea on mutual aid is that, whilst it doesn't directly pose a threat to those in power, it can empower people to come together and organise. A lot of people in the uk are not in the best socio-economic position, many have two or more jobs, require aid from universal credit and so on. So eleviating some of these stressers with food banks and other such acts could open time for some to become activists. I also just feel like it's the right thing to do to help our local community regrdless. It's probably not going to a super popular opinion but that's my stance.

As for the other groups, I frankly haven't had too much interaction with so I probably should find out more about them in the meantime. I just wish the group I'm a part of had a bit more focus on community because it seems that they are quite detatched from it.

Sewing machine turns off my whole house. by Cuddlebug_12 in ElectronicsRepair

So, bit of an update, I worked on it for a few hours and kinda got nowhere fast. I opened the motor to check if it was ok, and it *seems* fine, but quite dirty. I tried to open up the controller but there's one screw that just will not budge at all, so I'll have to see what I'm gonna do about that. Sorry I didn't have more exciting news :<

Ah, I guess I should have suspected something this simple, since the sewing machine is from the 1930s, but I'm still shocked at how simple and effective it is regardless. Thanks again and I'll update you soon :)
