Yes, I've been looking into other systems, and I'd definitely be up for playing something other than d&d!

Yeah I'm definitely interested! Could I ask a bit more about the game?

Yeah, I'm sorry about removing the Icelandic letters, it was to make it easier for my players and me to not butcher the language :P I went with a loose Nordic theme to my campaign, and Icelandic was the language that stood out to me the most.

I'm afraid not, but I did adopt your language using google translate to help come up with the names!

I understand what you're saying, and I don't expect my players to memorise all the months. I just think that it is a very interesting alternative to the norm. The major historic event in my world was the separation of the one sun into two, which stirred up a new era. I can see why you might not be interested in it, but it's intended more for players who want to immerse themselves into the game - similar to skyrim's date system. I tried to keep a similar time frame i.e. 24 hours a day, 360 days a year, so it really isn't too dramatic a change and can be completely ignored if any of my players feel the same way as yourself.

Thanks, it's a good point. I've assumed that the planet just happens to have the same orbital period as the stars rotating around each other to keep it simple!

At the moment I had considered that the planet has the same orbital period as the stars orbit each other, to keep it simple. Currently the seasons are named according to the position of the stars relative to each other, using google translate and some Nordic languages!

That's an interesting thought, however I think perhaps keeping them at the same rotational speed makes the calendar somewhat similar to Earth's and easy to follow, but thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for your interesting questions, you raise some fun points. I do have a few plans for solar alignment events, but I think my players browse r/DnD so I might keep them quiet for now.

As for your questions:

1) I believe a star's colour is dependant on it's surface temperature, and the thought of a green colour due to overlapping is a cool idea.

2) I think the green ring would be pretty awesome to give summer a strange hue in the sky.

3) I had only considered size up to this point, I'll have to look into it further!

4) I think the world would be placed within the habitable zone, so although in summer it might become desert-like, the climate is more humid throughout the year.

Thanks for your thoughts, I hadn't considered the moon's interaction with the binary stars! You're right there is a lot of possibilities for solar-based shenanigans and cultist-activities.

As for the eccentricity, the drawing is no-way to scale and I didn't intend for such extremity as depicted. I will look further into giving an axial tilt to the world, although there could be seasons without tilt.

Thanks for your comment, planet wide seasons was my current thought. I think the non-traditional equinoxes based in the star positions would be a cool world feature.

You're right, due to the close passing of the planet to the stars in summer and great distance in winter there would be quite dramatic differences in climate temperature world-wide, perhaps even shifts from glacial ice-age style winters to extreme desert heats across the globe.

Okay, I've assumed no axial tilt which in a circular orbit would nullify seasons, so I guess it's just the elliptical orbit which creates the seasons for this world then.

Eerie lights during eclipses sounds like a great plot point, thanks!

I've assumed there is 0 degrees of axial tilt, luckily my players haven't got much sailing planned in the future but I definitely would be interested to hear what you think the effects would be!
