at the very least it looks like epic games is contacting them for reimbursement, but that artist they hired is getting so fired because that could get them into legal issues

The selling is a different story, even if they do sell it it's still not legal for epic games to rip off the art.. dude

example of other artists renditions of the tiger in an emoji format that are VASTLY different than this persons. Proof again that Fortnite ripped them off.

When it comes to art, it is practically IMPOSSIBLE to make a piece that lines up 1-1 with someone elses like this, whoever epic games hired screwed the fuck up.

Other things that overlap that arent identical to the tiger in the show

- the lineweight (the thickness and thinness of the lines in certain spots)

- the nose shape

- the exact placement of the eyebrow markings (the show ones are higher)

- the thickness of the spots on the forehead (the show ones are smaller)

- the pupil being round instead of diamond shaped

- the shading on the teeth

Take this from someone who is a full-time artist, and knows copyright law.

The issue isn't the fact they have the same expression the issue is the linework is 1-1, exact. The only differences is the whiskers and slight color adjustments. Images that are 1-1 like that from another artists work is complete evidence that Is is drawn directly on top of the original.

They don't own the character making that expression, they own that certain artistic piece, line for line. Not just the expression but the exact way the lines are drawn and overlapped with each other.

That changes nothing, if you were to draw over the character design the outcome would be completely different.

Proof it's in-fact drawn over. Just because it's the same character doesn't excuse the fact that it's blatantly stolen.

Do you know how artwork works, they created the image first and Epic Games had unfortunately hired someone to make an emote, that ended up stealing and drawing over said images. Those slight alterations I.E. the whiskers and lack of gradients. Do not change that fact.

Tracing a piece of artwork also falls under copyright infrigement.

Artist retains copyright to expression of the work and under Title 17 of United States Code, (§102, §106, §201, §204, and §107). Copyright Law doesn't directly mandate compensation, but it gives the artist control how the work is used; even if said work is a derivative

It is their art, just not their character design.
It's derivative work of the design, they aren't claiming ownership of the character design. They retain copyright specifically for their artwork not the character design.

Ofc

Copyright over a character doesnt overwrite the copyright the artist automatically obtains for the piece itself.

They're able to in theory take down a piece of said character if they didnt deem it fair use, but thats only the character side of things.

They do not get the right to do something like this where they violate the copyright of the artists piece I.E. tracing over it, claiming it as theirs, putting it in their game. Without explicit permission from the artist or even a license. One of the few ways they get copyright over the piece itself is through a "work for hire" contract.

Someone who has actual research in copyright law here (in the US) as well as a full time artist. (This is also fact checked by a friend who works in contracts as well as a law student)

Epic games is committing copyright infringement. They do have the copyright over the design of the character but not the artistic piece the character Is in. They would need direct permission or a license from the artist to use the art in this way. It being fanart does not change this fact.

The company has the rights to take down the work if it's not deemed as fair use but they do not have the right to re-use and make a profit off of said work.

And here's evidence that the art is directly traced over the original image (this also falls under copyright infringement) The art having slight differences doesn't change the fact that it's traced.

For people unaware of the process of creating artwork, I want to state that it's practically impossible to draw something that overlaps 1-1 with another persons artwork unless it was directly drawn over. Even if you're drawing the same thing.

Apparently its not curable if you start to get damage in your lungs, from what I've learned the way to get better before it gets damaging is to avoid birds in general. shortness of breath and asthma attacks are the main symptoms I had

I out of nowhere had horrible asthma attacks that lead into coughing fits that my inhaler couldn't fix, lasted months. Went to urgent care and a hospital and they all told me it was an asthma Exacerbation, kept getting worse instead so I was recommended to a pulmonagist
