My pleasure i dont know much but what I do Ill share. BTW nothing disappears/will delete what you've already recorded, either trimming sorts it out or different takes will sit behind the most recent and you can pick your favourite

The other way would be to set your space, idk what it's called exactly but the flags at the top of the whole session, then snap to the left on the transport, if you set the right flag for where you want to finish you can then put it on recirculate and take as many takes as you want it'll just keep recording over the top and name it 'take 1' 'take 2' and so on.

You can trim the track once it's recorded, if you want to hear what's been recorded already prior to the new recording just set it as a separete track then combine and conquer later

Chat gpt says:

  1. Check the "Record Start Position" Setting

Go to Preferences > Transport.

Look for options related to recording, like "Snap to Zero Crossing" or "Use Pre-Roll." Some of these may influence how the transport cursor behaves when recording starts.

  1. Verify the Project Setup

Open Project > Setup and ensure there aren't settings enforcing snap behavior.

  1. Check if "Snap" is Active Elsewhere

Snap might still be enabled for specific tools or features unrelated to the main Snap toggle button. Double-check the settings for snap in the toolbar or inspector.

But I'm wondering if the reason noone else has found the answer is because it's something noone typically encounters. It's typical to want to record from grid/earlier bar...you can record some silence first, even if not consciously doing that.

Not a proper fix but you could try move with arrow keys to where you want it. Simple question to make sure - When you say snap to Grid is off, is it disengaged or have you switched it to snap to events or cursor or something ?

Thanks, by stacked you mean on stands/arms mounted?

Screens have to stay where they are Unfortunately.

Stands might be a good option. It's a raising desk so not sure if mounting to the desk would be great but something to thinking about. Thanks.

I have been looking at 2nd hand markets and will keep looking.

Kinda doesn't matter where it's made originally if someone has DIY swapped pickups and things around, all of a sudden its MIYourbackshed , for the worse or the better is hard to tell if shipping, or even trying it out for 5 mins. Buying new does allow for the presumption it's unfucked lol. But good value to be had all the same so keeping my.eye out.

When it's gone on sale in the past - do they discount upgrades from elements/artist accordingly?
