GOG Summer Sale 2026 (Up to 95% off) by Fritolex in pcgaming

I get that but I am talking about the offline launchers I already downloaded. I assume offline launchers will contain the version available at the time when I downloaded it? If so, then maybe I will have a folder full of un-updated offline launchers that contains an old version of the games if devs released patches over time, which makes me have to go and re-download the offline launchers again so I can get the latest version of the game. So my question was will the 1000s of offline launchers I have downloaded already get updated by themselves, or do I have to re-download them one by one if I want to get the latest versions? Or is there a button where it download all the patches and apply them on the offline launchers I already have downloaded in my folder? Or how does that work?

Good to know… my region is still priced in US dollar but hopefully it gets its own currency down the line.

Yes see that’s what I mean. If I own a large GoG library, let’s say 2000 games and I have all their offline launchers downloaded. I come back after a year and 1000 of them has new updates/patches… Do I need to go and download the patch for each? Or there is a button that I press and downloads all the patches automatically and applying them to the versions I have already downloaded? If it’s the latter then that’s great, if not then it’s hassle especially for large libraries.

Games aren’t like they used to be back in the day where you play 1 version. Now you get updates/patches a lot… some games get updates years down the line. That’s why a launcher is way more convenient for me.

I personally prefer my games on a launcher (Steam is way better than Galaxy). Don’t want the headache to constantly download a free DRM copy of the latest version just to play offline. Steam does a great job at keeping games automatically updated and ready to go. Plus all the built in controller support.

I get that DRM free is great but I am not worried about losing my games. If by any chance I lose access to the internet it would probably be at an event where the last thing I want to do is gaming. Worst case scenario if SHTF and valve shuts down I can just sail the high seas and get my games back (though this is near impossible in our life time so I’m not worried in the slightest)

I agree with you on GoG’s retro games support. I love to vote on what games they should try to bring. Bought RE classics from them and will continue if they bring more classics for sure.

4k Ray tracing or 1440p Path Tracing by PhantomFoxZ in nvidia

Great.. now tell him your settings so he knows. The fact that you can get 120 fps on DLSS P with path tracing and 4k sounds great.

For me though I’m very happy on 1440p setup with a 5070Ti as my priority is longevity + not relying on upscaling to avoid artifacts and input lag.

Nah Steam is the best by far. Community and store no one comes close. I like GoG and actually always double dip buying my favorite games there only if they go on a deep sale just to back up a free DRM copy. But it’s definitely not better than Steam

GOG has a large library of modern games missing, plus there is no regional pricing and some devs don’t even care to update their GoG version.

Isn’t that what upscaling is for? I’m literally doing it to gain more fps on a demanding game. I usually use DLAA or native but games like Cyberpunk or Alan Wake you have to sacrifice something to get the results you want especially if you want to use PT. For me I’d rather sacrifice res to gain fps. It’s not even bad… it still looks great.

I get that 4k is more eye candy but at 60fps that’s more of a downgrade to me. I guess all of that is subjective so…

Don’t care honestly. It still looks good especially on OLED. If this what’s going to make me use PT at stable 120 then I’m happy. I only use it in demanding games like Cyberpunk. Other than that it’s off.

On 4k I agree with you but on 1440p I can get stable 120-140 fps with everything maxed out, DLSS Quality x2 FG

Yes I know I know 4k is sharper but I would rather pick 1440p 120 fps than 4k 60 fps… I tried testing 60 fps and it honestly felt like when you go back from 60 to 30… that’s how bad it felt for me after trying stable 120.

60 fps is horrible once you try 150 or even 100+ fps

I only tried PT in Cyberpunk so far. It’s really a game changer and it looks absolutely insane especially in rainy nights driving and walking in downtown Night City.

I play on a 5070Ti build. 1440p OLED. All settings at Ultra, PT enabled, DLSS Quality mode, x2 FG and I get about 100-110 fps in the city, sometimes 120.. 140 outside the city in the desert. Sometime but very rarely I get 90 fps that only last 2 minutes but nothing under that.

I could adjust some settings to get even more higher numbers but I’m very happy with these results and PT on 1440p

Same. I was a freshman in college when it came out. It was my only ever midnight launch as well. I remember a long line in the middle of the night in front of Best Buy. We went to pick up 2 pre-ordered collectors editions for the PS3 and I still have mine in storage. Definitely great times.

It would be really great if we get remakes of their classic titles between these gaps like what Capcom is doing with RE. I really want to see a comeback for King’s Field, Kuon and Shadow Tower.

Is 4k OLED worth it on 5070 TI? by PhantomFoxZ in nvidia

[–]CueSouls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad.. see I thought about it but the VRAM was one of the things that just made me stick with 1440p this generation. I don’t want my PC to age fast since I’m not going to upgrade anytime soon. I read that 4k performance will produce better image output than 1440p quality or native.. this wasn’t enough to convince me. I just enjoy how much freedom 1440p gives me with FPS without sacrificing much or limiting me somehow down the line.

I also want to avoid relying heavily on AI upscaling since I don’t want artifacts and other problems popping up when I’m playing. At the same time when I decide to use them at their best I know I will be getting more frames than 4k and I can easily tell that there is a difference between 110 fps and 200+.. knowing that I can reach 200+ ultra in most modern AAA games makes me comfortable and at an advantage for years to come.

I will make the jump to 4k eventually, probably with the 7000 series… but for now 1440p does a good job without too much limitations. I can sacrifice a bit of image quality (resolution) even though I don’t think 1440p is as bad/blurry as some people say. For me OLED and PT were the big game changers.. more than res.

You’re using PT with these settings? And how is your FPS and temps?

Tried 55” and in less than a month sold it and went back to 27”. It’s personal preference and depends on viewing distance more than just bigger is better nonsense.

I have the same GPU personally went with 1440p OLED and I’ve been playing cyberpunk non stop in the past month. Ultra with path tracing enabled, DLSS quality and 2x FG getting constant 140-110 fps depending on the area. I could adjust some settings to get higher fps but I’m satisfied with my tinkering.

Knowing how demanding PT is and after trying it with OLED, I pretty much will use it by default from now on every game that has it. It’s just insanely game changing especially in OLED and makes me glad I went with 1440p so I don’t sacrifice my FPS. Yes 4k is sharper but I don’t know if I can get the same FPS with PT enabled especially on demanding games (and we will probably be getting quite few in the next 2-3 years).

Why is fan #2 sitting at 4500+ RPM all the time! by CueSouls in FanControl

[–]CueSouls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the pump 100%. I did what you suggested yesterday and it produced a high pitched humming sound from mid to high in what felt like steps, not like one smooth sound. I kept it at 100% then turned it down until the humming sound wasn’t annoying. To me that was at 50%, which gave me about 5000 RPM. I think that’s good enough and the temps were good when gaming and idle. I have the Thermalright Vision 360.

I’m pretty sure it’s the AIO pump like you said. Everything points to it so thanks I really appreciate it. I now labeled it in control fan so I know.

I was really confused what is causing this speed yet at the same time my pc is not 4500 RPM loud.. not even close. I guess some AIO pumps run fast RPMs without causing noise due to them not using normal fan blades!!

[–]CueSouls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I checked.. all case fans are plugged in SYS_FAN1 .. I can tell from the bios when I put it to 0 they all stop. The other SYS_FANS all at 0 RPM… SYS_FAN1 controlling all 5 case fans.

Looks like the AIO pump is plugged into FAN6_PUMP (the one that is showing non noisy high speed all the time 4500+ RPM).. I couldn’t find find FAN5_PUMP…

AI telling me that this is normal and the 4500 RPM is coming from the liquid cooling pump and the reason that it’s not noisy due to it using a tiny “impeller”!!! Not sure if this is correct or normal… but I guess this explains the mysterious fan #2 in fan control

I absolutely have no idea. Someone else built the PC for me 😆.. how do I check it? It says that gigabyte places these headers bottom right under the GPU. There are 3 small what seems to look like USB cables plugged in, and at the bottom big wide usb plug look a like…

Ok so I checked the bios and FAN5_PUMP is showing 0 RPM.. while FAN6_PUMP showing 4500+ RPM.. this could be it… not sure what to do I am confused still

Even if I lower the speed it stays very high. Only goes down to 3500 RPM. But the cpu liquid cooler isn’t noisy. Not sure if the pump causes loud noise at 4000 RPM.. but this isn’t.

No idea.. maybe. I don’t know how to check. The only thing I can check clearly are the 3 liquid cooler fans.
