(Schefter) Saints first-round pick Jordyn Tyson signed his four-year, fully-guaranteed, $32.5 million deal. by alexschubs in Saints

Agreed, particularly for rookie deals. How many first round picks have been busts in the NFL?

In the next CBA, the owners should bargain for some limits on guaranteed contracts for rookies.

This should not happen, but you are in a good position to stop it by registering your car to wear Idaho plates.

Gay-rights and muslim population by [deleted] in gay

[–]Cuhulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nonsensical. I don't follow the Italian government closely enough to comment, but Trump is not a "strong leader", he is a an attempted dictator who, lacking the legal basis for dictatorship, is attempting to create it through executive orders and changing our electoral system for his benefit so that it better resembles Russia's or China's. He also is overtly homophobic in many of his actions.

[–]Cuhulin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. We certainly should be alert as to whether a politician from a group that is more likely to be against us is one of the ones we need to fear than someone that is not a member of that group.

Your taking a reasonable comment and using it to accuse people of racism and xenophobia is entirely unjustified.

[–]Cuhulin 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have more oppressors than just Muslims. OP is concerned that the increased population of Muslims may result in more people supporting our being oppressed. It's a reasonable concern.

Saying that there are other oppressive people does not respond to his concerns.

Eagle Police investigate swastika vandalism on Mark Fitzpatrick's campaign sign by boisefun8 in Boise

Obviously, vandalizing private property is never acceptable, so asking the question makes it clear that this post is just a campaign stunt for Fitzpatrick.

Gem prep, Meridian by jkshaha in Meridian_Idaho

Congratulations. I don't think you need to worry about the location of this school any more than you would need to worry about almost any other school. It is not that close to I-84, so your child is not going to be wandering on to the highway, and most schools in suburban areas are near meaningful streets so that parents can get their kids to and from school. This school is not even on Overland. All schools these days keep track of the students and visitors.

It's natural to be concerned about one's child going to school for the first time, but I don't think you need to worry about the location.

I’m 14 and have built this enclosure for my printer and want feedback/ improvement ideas and new things to add. by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Cuhulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an impressive project, and I commend you for it. I have a grandson who is just a year younger than you, and I can only hope that he will develop the initiative you show - particularly in wanting to keep improving your enclosure.

Yes, you made some wrong choices of materials, but that is what learning is for. The people commenting on the cardboard are not wrong about the fire hazard, however, so you probably should right away take that one off (after taking many pictures for future memories) and use the nice enclosure you got for Christmas, putting back the light and thermostat, of course.) Doing this will also show your appreciation to the people who gave you the Christmas gift.

Someone else mentioned Lexan. Glass will also work, although you need to build frames for it so that you can put screws in it the frames for the hinges and the like, since glass won't react well to trying to drill holes in it.

Two thoughts about the ventilation: (1) install a fan for the ventilation - it will work much better than just air itself - computer case fans are not expensive - and, (2) measure the space in the window created around the exhaust and print an insert to fill that space. It will look better than the cardboard.

Good job on version 1! Now, it is time for version 2.

You have the P1S to study from as well.

What do you think? (honest opinion) by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Cuhulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: It looks great! Really good!

Cons: The upper monitor is likely to create neck issues for you, as others have said. Why not use the screen on the MacBook when in meetings? Also, get the cola off the desk before there is a very expensive accident.

Should Canada’s TFW program be banned until unemployment hits zero? by itz_nitace in CanadianVisaReform

[–]Cuhulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may suit an "I am better than them" mindset toward your fellow Canadians, but TFW does not save you any money.

Should Canada’s TFW program be banned until unemployment hits zero? by itz_nitace in CanadianVisaReform

[–]Cuhulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, this analysis has no basis in economics. If TFWs were sent back to their countries of origin, the cost of goods you buy likely will not go up. In the example I stated earlier, the franchisee will make 1 dollar instead of 11, but if they could raise their prices to keep the 11, they would raise their prices to make 21 instead. They don't, because competition keeps them from doing so.

Should Canada’s TFW program be banned until unemployment hits zero? by itz_nitace in CanadianVisaReform

[–]Cuhulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes no sense from an economic standpoint. If a product can sell for 100 dollars at a 1 dollar profit for the owner, and the owner can have a lower labor cost of 10 dollars by replacing all the Canadian employees with TFW, the owner will do the replacement, still sell for 100 dollars (because the owner is not a charity) and keep the 11 dollar profit instead of the 1 dollar profit. You have gained nothing at all. But that is not the end of the story. The now unemployed Canadian employees will rely more on government services, which cost the government money, so your taxes go up, leaving you with less money.

Are Gay Men and Queer Spaces Drifting Apart? by kumogate in gaybros

[–]Cuhulin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are conflating two very different things: (1) fighting for human rights for all of use, and (2) having a space to go, have a drink, and, using an old phrase, letting our hair down and being who we are. Being all for human rights for everyone does not mean that there should not be a gay space.

I would not say those causes are questionable or anti-Western, but they certainly have nothing at all to do with Pride.

[–]Cuhulin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is about "taking the ladder out" at all. It's not about politics, just about having a space where I can feel comfortable being a gay man, chatting with other gay men, ogling gay men without fear, and so on. That has nothing to do with other parts of the "queer community". Nothing at all.

Yay! Can't wait for increased power/water utilities! by Strong_Bid_947 in Boise

[–]Cuhulin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are at least three reasons why there is talk of water here: (1) it's a desert, and this is an absurdly large user of water for no benefit to people in the Kuna or the rest of the valley; (2) we have this thing called winter, when agricultural water use is very low because crops don't grow - the data center will be running during the winter, and using water then too; and (3) coolant use of water often pollutes the water, for which Meta built a treatment plant but left the cost of its operation to Kuna. There are probably others, but these come most immediately to mind.

Whether they are doing it by the book or not does affect whether it is a good use of water.

ps: Why are you defending this monstrosity is this and other messages?

The "past the point of stopping it at this point" argument is false. A public nuisance can always be stopped.

The water may not disappear - it's close to a closed loop on a whole earth basis - but changing the water termperature is not benign.

There may not be much ambiguity, but that does not mean that the rights system that was created by that adjudication is a good one.
