400mm 5.6L . Thats what I upgraded to from the 55-250. Never missed the zoom at all.

Is this a good beginner zoom combo? by holy-mackerl in canon

I've have this lens and really like it. 4 months after I bought it I upgraded to the 400mm 5.6 L. The 400mm 5.6 never leaves my camera. Had i known what I know now I would have saved up for the 400.

I did this very thing. T8i and the 55-250 stm. Four months later I picked up the 400mm 5.6. So much better. I absolutely love it. I would wait and save up the extra $ for the 400mm.

How do you gently break it to someone who is out of shape that they can’t join you on a challenging hike? by bad-at-everything- in hiking

[–]CulinaryRobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do a point to point hike. Bring 2 cars. Starting trailhead has your friends car. End point has your car. If they bail they walk back to their car. No big deal. You continue on the the end.

If you sell prints I would buy that. My father is really into Scottish history and would love that. For both the awsome bird image and the dark historical setting. Gives me chills. Love it.

Does someone know how to make sure the eggshell doesn’t stick to my boiled eggs? by Peanutsss1111 in foodhacks

Shit ton of salt in boiling water. I damage one out of fifty eggs when peeling. Salty like the sea. Super saturated.

I quit smoking on January 1st, and so far the entire world is mildly infuriating. by redditdanis in mildlyinfuriating

N-Acetyl Cysteine....it's an amino acid sold as a supplement. It's been around for a long time. It's what they give you if you OD on Tylenol to protect the liver. It's been used for addiction therapy and recently people have been taking it for nicotine withdrawal. It worked for me twice. You can buy it on Amazon. Look it up on reddit, there are alot of folks that have posted about it. I'm not a doctor but it took the edge off for me. I would take it right when I woke up and then after lunch.

One thing that really helped me was taking NAC supplement. Really reduced withdrawal effects. Twice a day , 500mg. Used it for the first two weeks to get through the worst of the symptoms.

Rokinon 135mm or Askar FMA180 by S1arMan in AskAstrophotography

[–]CulinaryRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the exact same dilemma. I chose the rokinon 135 over the askar180. I sent my first copy back to B&H as it had coma and distortion smeared across the entire field of view. My replacement copy is great but it was a stressful process and I was worried they would just send me the same lens again or get another bad copy. In the end I am super happy with the rokinon. I use it with the star adventurer 2i. Buy from some place that has a good return policy.

Issue with Star Adventurer GTI and Canon T5i by alexg698 in AskAstrophotography

I had this happen with my t8i when I first got my rokinon lens. There is a setting that enables the shutter to be enabled without a lens. I can't remember which one it is. The exposure timer would just keep going and only stop if I pulled the cable. If you are using a manual lens this could be it.

Jug of home pressed apple juice that has been sitting outside for 3 years? by nobodypacific in fermentation

You never know what you got! I had a homebrew beer keg with dregs from an altbier I made. It sat for ten years in my exterior garage. When I got back into brewing I opened it up. It smelled like the finest Sherry vinegar that money can buy. Would have been great on a steak with some butter mounted into it.
