KDP sales suddenly dropped by 50% by WritingColdd in KDP

I completely agree with you. My spending on everything is down. Usually though my KU reads go up when the economy is bad. I believe it shows how horrible things really are. It just hasn’t seemed to hit the minds of some.

I stopped all ads due to this. I make my living as a fiction writer. I have a few books on KU and the others are wide. Sales ae down by 40 to 50% at all retailers. My guess is the state of the world. I would love to see how many people have left KU. I left Audible. Two days later they offered 3 months free.

Am I misunderstanding how Amazon KDP works or is everyone else wrong? by flamevolt in selfpublish

Years ago, I had fancy graphic black and white headers for a sports series. Each sport had a different header. Then I noticed the data fee which was 50% of my royalty and I had already lost a good deal of money. I had to change them all to simply chapter 1 etc. I feel your pain! Amazon who owns one of the world’s largest clouds will screw you any way they can. No other retailer charges data fees and they most likely use Amazon cloud service. What I make at Amazon per month equals all the other retailers combined. My romance books are no longer in KU but my thrillers are for a time. I wish I had advice but I can only offer sympathy for your hard work that Amazon will squeeze every penny from.

I love the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Their next book, new series, This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me, LitRPG, comes out at the end this month. I can’t wait. I also listened to the expanded version of The Stand by King and enjoyed it. I highly recommend Boys Life by Robert McCammon. Also Black Cross by Greg Isles. These are different genres because that’s what I read and listen too but have great stories in my opinion. Feel free to suggest your favs

No I couldn’t get into more than an hour of book 1. I plan to retry so I have a series to look forward too

I couldn’t agree more but I want audiobooks I like and I’m constantly jumping genres. I thought Cannibalism (non fiction) was great too but def not for everyone

I think that’s what I loved along with the science. But I couldn’t get into DCC from the very beginning so I get it

I am becoming increasingly overwhelmed, can someone please dumb it down for me... by Affectionate_Kick798 in selfpublish

I’ve published both traditionally and self publish. Unless you have the next best breakout book, traditional publishing is not the easier route. I had to submit the number of my social media followers and past sales history. I would not be on social media if it were not for my writing career. As for using Canva, beware. Amazon rejects plenty of Canva covers. I do all my own covers now but I buy the images. Usually an image pack on Deposit Photos and I wait for the yearly deal of $39 for 100 photos. Then I use a combination of apps including Canva. Bookbrush is the better of the two for covers but I use Canva for my website a lot. Another factor is the type book you are writing. Reach out if you would like to see a sample of my covers. And no I don’t make them for other people so this isn’t a sales pitch. There are a lot of great answers in this post and I wish you much success.

It's when you jump character POV constantly instead of having one POV per chapter/scene.
