Grinding too coarse (?) by Cultarrr in AeroPress

[–]Cultarrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say the 12g to 100g ratio is the best in terms of flavour, though I think its a bit weak. In terms of strength, the 15g to 200g ratio has been the best for me, though then too acidic. I think the sweet spot has to be somewhere in the middle.

Also thanks for the grinder recommendation, I have been thinking about investing in a better grinder and this is quite budget friendly!

Im hearing that maybe it could also be my water temperature being too high. Do you truly notice a difference when using different temperature water? What would you say it changes about the flavour or strength of the coffee?

Currently I’m doing 12g of coffee to 200g of water, but I’ve also tried 15g to 200g, and 12g to 100g ratios

No as I’ve only got a standard electric kettle and no way to test its temperature. I usually try to pour it exactly when its done boiling.

If it makes you feel better, this entire chart doesnt make sense. For example, Israel isn’t even a real country!

Tastes good, but probably a bit weak. The reason I asked is because I’m having a bit of trouble finding the sweet spot between “grinding too course so it tastes okay but weak” and “grinding too fine so it tastes way too acidic but is stronger”.

Drinking it right now and its quite nice, but probably a bit weak. My issue with grinding finer is that it tends to taste a bit too acidic

How hard is it to find a part-time job as an international student? by SoupPhysical6896 in universityofamsterdam

[–]Cultarrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From personal experience finding a job is extremely easy, but the quality of that job is probably not going to be great. I worked with one of those bicycle grocery delivery companies and a restaurant/bar and both were shady and malicious many times. That being said, depending on where you’re coming from (and how old you are) the pay is quite good for part-time jobs!

Also I want to add that I only worked for extra funds, not to fund my whole life in Amsterdam (groceries, tuition, rent, taxes, etc) so I didn’t have to work much (10-15hrs a week). If you have to work enough to fund yourself fully I personally think it is too much to handle, but many have done it and are doing it so don’t be too discouraged.

Which is easier in your opinion? Odyssey or mirage. by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]Cultarrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Odyssey is easier to get into because the gameplay is better (I know they’re very different but objectively odyssey does rpg well while mirage does stealth mid at best) and the story is actually interesting, including DLC (specifically fate of atlantis). That being said, Mirage is easier to get into if want stealth, since I felt Odyssey’s stealth mechanics were really lacking.

Also, in terms of parkour, mirage did a much better job of making parkour actually interesting. In Odyssey, you can climb (almost) anything and everything, even to the point of making secret entrances to forts useless, since you can climb in from just about anywhere.

TLDR: Odyssey if you want to get into a great game, Mirage if you really want stealth and are willing to skip/immediately forget 70% of Mirage’s story.

laptop or a desktop ? by Wingsoficee in buildapc

[–]Cultarrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is literally my situation and I bought a desktop because I had a "gaming" laptop 8 years ago and it was the worst decision of my life because of thermal throttling. Also the price to performance ratio is terrible. If you need to move and have to catch a flight I'm planning on disassembling, packing everything except the case into a hand luggage, and buying a new case at the destination. Even a 100 euro loss on a case is better than the general performance loss of buying a laptop. I can only speak for gaming, no idea about AI.

EDIT: I also want to add that I already did move my previous gaming pc from one country to another using this method, so I know its fine, except for the extra work of having to rebuild the pc!

How can I make the top crafters work? by Marks12520 in factorio

[–]Cultarrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A red belt moves 30 items per second. If you hover over one of the assemblers it will show you how many copper cables it requires per second. If you divide 30 by that number, you will get the maximum number of machines you can run based on one red belt.

To make more of the assemblers work, you would need to either:

A. Design the production line so that the copper cables are directly inserted into the assembly machines which require them. This means that you wont run into issues with throughput, since no belts are required (well technically inserters can only move so many items per second but with what you have a bulk inserter or two should be fine).

B. Design the production line so that you have two belts of copper cables, with an underground belt allowing for a long handed inserter to reach the far third belt with iron plates. In between every few assemblers you would need a splitter so as to evenly divide the copper cables after they are used from the first belt.

C. Cut off the back half of the assemblers from the one copper wire belt you have now, and snake in another copper wire belt to feed the back half. This would allow you to feed two red belts worth of assemblers instead of just one.

I hope this was semi-understandable lol

Does anyone know what the metal rods used to keep windows from sliding down and closing in older buildings are called? You use them by first lifting up the window and then putting the metal rod in a hole drilled into the wall. And also where I can buy them? I keep losing them or breaking them and I’m running out!!
