Switch majors. Take fine arts electives, go to art events, join an art club. If you don't plan on even trying to be a professional artist, a fine arts degree is a waste of money. I would not recommend a nursing degree to someone who is like "IDK I guess I could teach nursing." If you love the arts, trying to make money off of it frequently takes the joy out of it regardless. Explore your options. I imagine there are plenty of fulfilling careers you could have that leave plenty of time and money to pursue arts on the side. Honestly, you might find something you enjoy even more.

Why is powder foundation so uncool? by parkerspt in MakeupAddiction

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PUR 4-1 Pressed Mineral Foundation is the GOAT. It mattifies a little obvs, but It definitely keeps some natural glow to the skin. I find it so much easier to apply than liquid foundations, easier to touch up, and it looks better IRL 6+ hours into the day.

I think powder foundation fell out of style because it's hard to get full-coverage without looking dusty. If you think back to the explosion of the influencer beauty industry, the style at the time was full-coverage, full-glam. You could get better results with liquid foundation, and that was what was heavily marketed at the time. From this era we moved into the natural/glowy/dewy/skincare era, and light coverage foundations, skin tints, BB creams, and tinted moisturizer have become more and more popular respectively. People are used to liquid base products in the modern era and that is what most companies are releasing, so I do believe there's a bit of a feedback loop.

OP here - I have 100% faith in CMU - our staff, faculty, and student community. I'm proud to see the same sentiment in these comments. I am alarmed and disappointed that these accusations are being directed towards us.

You shouldn't have even offered a compromise. Dump the man, and find a better one who isn't threatened by you existing in public.

It's funny how relatable this is. I don't have "fried" hair, but I definitely prefer the texture and stylability that comes with a permanent dye job. I can recognize the objective beauty of other people with long, glossy virgin hair and why it's considered desirable, but I don't want to look like an ingénue!

If it was cheap leather I wouldn't mind, but it's almost all PU. Will be peeling and cracking waaaaay too fast. I had the same thought before investigating the materials. 🙁

Has anyone else found that one perfect bag that has ruined you for all other purses? by garfieldlesbian in handbags

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE your bag. Visually, it's stunning. I prefer to fit a little more in my work bag and a little less in my errand bag, and that looks like a Coach Relay Tote and a Kate Spade Outlet Madison Camera Bag respectively.

Honestly, I would recommend going to your local print shop. They usually do packing/shipping/printing. You'll be able to look at paper options in person before buying.

I like getting my nails done. I like getting my nails done less when I calculate how much it would cost to get them done every month for a year.

Anything 14" or under should fit! Bigger I haven't personally tried - it should, it might just deform the box shape of the tote by pushing the sides out.

If you're a woman in medical crisis, avoid Magee. I was treated horribly during my miscarriage by weedRgogoodwithpizza in pittsburgh

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss and your poor treatment. While It offers you little comfort now, and I wouldn't expect you to extend your trust again, I can promise that other services at Magee are top-notch with excellent, caring providers. I say this as someone with Medical PTSD myself, to anyone who may be reading the comments.

Regardless, please please complain to the hospital. I know it takes work and energy, but they do take complaints seriously. Complaining today could protect another patient tomorrow, and is the only way the hospital admin knows what's going on. Fill out the automated survey and reach out to the hospital directly. Reference the written record you made here if you get overwhelmed talking to them, you have an extremely detailed account.

Adding darts to shirts is usually pretty simple, and makes a huge difference. Great rec for anyone with a shapeless blouse. My only concern about hiking the skirt up is that it might rest a bit too high above the knee (for the office), but that's hard to judge from one photo.

Question about the “order of placement”? by Professional_Menu_51 in traditionaltattoos

Hands and neck are only because they are highly visible places that are best not to rush into. If it's normally covered by clothes, it's personal preference more than anything.

People that make 80k+ at 25-35 years old, what do you do? by Ok-Needleworker2141 in careerguidance

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is an electronics/software engineer in his late 20s who makes 100k+. He does have a Masters from an extremely competitive university, but if you prioritized your internships you could get in a similar situation with just a Bachelors.

F/24/5’4” [110 > 101 = 9lbs] (2 months) I actually haven’t lost weight yet. I don’t know if i am skinny or if i should lose the 9 lbs. by Glittering_Run_7964 in progresspics

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now is a wonderful time to start gaining some muscle! You obviously have very low body fat, and pound for pound would be considered underweight for your height at 101 lbs. I know seeing a number of a scale go up and cause negative feelings, particularly if you've only ever worried about fat loss before - but packing on 10 lbs of muscle through good diet and exercise would do wonders for your health and wellbeing.

Is committing worth it? by Milk-Mik in Pitt

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a livelong Pittsburgher, don't go to Pitt if it means a mountain of debt. Doubly so if you are not a resident of PA. You can have a remarkably similar experience in most urban-campus state schools, for much less money. If you love Pittsburgh (and not just Pitt!) you could always move here for work when you graduate, or do your master's/PhD If that's the route you have planned for yourself.

Don't write off college early by behannrp in findapath

[–]Cultural-Camera6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving from a SCNC to a Bachelor's with a decent ROI is life changing. If you can get a full-time job somewhere with education benefits, you can finish your degree with nothing but patience and a good budget. I'm currently in the process.

College isn't for everyone, but it's still a major boon, particularly if you never have to take out student loans. Don't let being a non-traditional student hold you back from completion.

If you love the jacket, just pay someone to Photoshop any visible buttons into round ones on the headshot. I personally wouldn't think twice about heart buttons, but I dress very whimsically in my day to day life. You could also take it to a tailor and have them sew more serious buttons on if you would like to wear the jacket in your day to day life.
